Just a point wich annoys me quite a bit:
Is it possible to get game updates per web-dl?
DLs from the server must further strain it - and i get only about 16KB/s - so the 38 MB take about 40 mins.
That seems a little it too lang. woulndn it be easier to provide a DL from the DL-page?
(Sorry if this topic has been covered before...)

1.508 - Release
- Serialization optimization which reduces the size of WOB's and transmitted data. This caused a update of most of the WOB files to a new format. Data sent over the network will be dramatically smaller.
- Multi-System Enhancements are now implemented.
- Enhancements are now color coded according to how rare they are.
- Adjusted "common" enhancements to be more balanced. In addition some may have small side effects also.
- Added a manifest to the lobby for Vista.
- Minor adjustments made to Mi ship's and devices
- Platforms are now more robust.
- Fixed issue with prevalent ECCM/ECM pinging on high tier ships - cooldown now scales up with ship class.
- Improved AI spawns.

While the new serialization may be effective in reducing update sizes, I still think we should try a fully operable international mirror service, instead of the user updated downloads that are more than often not updated.

Downloads don't strain the server. We've moved to a 100mb burstable line.
Downloads from the web server, and the game server come from two seperate places. The web server can't handle much at all - no-where near the game server bandwidth.

Well i do recall them lightly discussing a torrent based update engine, but I am sure they have other concerns on the todo list before more is added.
