Hello my fellow general supporters,

My colleague just received via Windows update the long awaited Sp3.
My question is: does Ds support Sp3, or will it crash if I install it?
Let me know, and sorry if this has been discussed before.

d/ling it now. I will let you all know how it goes.

While installing I found THIS overview of SP3 on Microsofts website. This caught my eye:

Quote:

Overview
Windows® XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the operating system. This update also includes a small number of new functionalities, which do not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system. This white paper summarizes what is new in Windows XP SP3.

I am assuming once it gets done installing I wont be able to get into the release lobby.

That would not be so nice, because SP3 is something I want.

Well I installed SP3 and promptly login into the lobby with out any issues.

Proof

Couple things to keep in mind. I didn't have any of the updates that were causing the issue ever installed on my pc as I don't auto update for that very reason.

Little update:

After installing SP3, the requirement for these updates seems to disapear.

I have currently got:

Windows XP
Service Pack 3

Up-to-date, and running - and I can run GCQL without any crashes.

Those of you who are putting this off, will only need to wait 4 more days (SP3 for XP is being released on the 29th - if you want, you can google the web for Windows XP SP3 RTM, and get it now).

I to can confirm that updating to SP3 works.
However i have not tested updating to SP3 when you got the two annoying IE patches installed.

I couldn't get GCQL to work before SP3, whether I had the "updates of doom" installed or not. SP3 did not fix my problem, still crashing on every login.

Okay, Did the following:

1) Installed the updates that causes problems with GCQL release
2) Rebooted, and made sure GCQL release did not work
3) Installed Service Pack 3
4) Rebooted, made sure it installed correctly.

The end result? GCQL Release still does not work

Side-note for sixkiller:
There have been some routing problems between GBLX and Sprintlink lately.
this will have some effect to dutch and other EU users trying to connect to somewhere eastside of the US.
the problem has been resolved, but i notice that there is still a report is on the AMS-IX board.
It says that partial connecting problems may occur up to may 11th, but they should last no more than 5 minutes.
