The latest news report states outage and lag problems, this leads me to beleive that theer was no loss of service. However, i had major log in probs last night on my home PC and it was not letting me find the site, never mind play the game. Was it just me or was it global. I can come to work and find i can log in!
beginning to panic as the wife is going out next two nights in a row and i have been granted DS time.

Well, thing is, that router that was mentioned seems to be one of about 50 or so major routers in the States, and just happens to be in texas and in all likelyhood handles a vast majority of traffic in and out of Dallas. And it doesnt to seem have affected everyone, i was in the lobby for most of the day with only slightly sluggish forums, as were quite a few people, but i know backslash for one couldnt connect. the kicker is that it's outside even palestar's isp, and theres not a whole lot faustus can do about it short of calling up the telecomm company in charge of the router...

Basicly..
World/Most people > Interchange > Several US routers > Dallas Router > Palestar ISP > Palestar servers.
If you remove the Dallas Router, you won't be able to hit the palestar servers, hence for some of us, it didn't exist for the time that it was down.
In the future, try running a tracert to "www.darkspace.net". If you can't connect, yet get a reply from that DNS, you'll know the servers are down. If it cuts out before it hits the palestar servers, you'll know it's something down the line somewhere that's causing the problem.

Jack, I just love the way you say "Basically" and then go off into a load of jargon and gobbledegook that i cant make head nor tail off. 
Remember I am a nurse, i deal with bodies, not techie things.
It would be easier if you just told me "the line was cut".

Here's a (bad) biological analogy:
You are a fetus. You want to get nutrients (darkspace fix) from the placenta (palestar servers). However, the umbilical cord has a hole in it (the dallas router), so the transfer doesn't go through - it gets halfway and then drains out the hole (packet loss).
