While I can see carrying chared weapons/engines/etc yo get around rechare rates is an exploit, what about carring different weapons/objects in the hold to allow flexibility?

I.E.: I swap lasers for more partical guns or EMP cannons in my engineering shiip to defend myself with, but keep my lasers in the hold. This way I can return fire against ships attacking me, but if a troop transport or bomber shows up I can replace my lasers to shoot down the invading INF/MIRVs. Would this still be concidered an exploit? It isn't adding cababilities to the ship that are illegal, only making it more flexible to how it can respond to situations it finds itself in. If a starport & FAC was there at the time, you could do the same thing, plus it does have an opportunity cost as you can't carry anything else in those holds.

What about salvage? If you find a charged item in a debris field, can you not use it?

Thanks

if you see anyone swapping light weapons or light beams to exploit....call him an idiot
You cant really exploit that, therefore its no exploit to carry those things
Anyway.....noone will notice anyway what you are carrying, if someone complains that an engi shot him with 4 guns first and then with 4 beams, then he must be nuts....

Only an exploit if you're using it to get around game engineering.

i.e.

Keepings torps in store to give you more ammo of the torps you already have.

Keeping a wormhole in cargo so you can spawn two wormholes in quick succession.

in short, if it requires a charge of ammo, or requires a time charge (such as HMA and WH devices) it is an exploit. Pcannons to beams would not fit this rule, and is therefore allowed.

And yes, Moderators in particular DO in fact pay attention to how much of what is being used. Due to the "extra-slot" bug that happens at times when u are modding, we have begun to watch carefully for too many weapons and gadgets on ships. In this case, nothing would be considered exploitative, that I am aware of. More experienced staff may feel free to correct me....

It is ok to swap different weapons for different situations...

Say if you're taking on a bigger ship, you use sabots. Take on a smaller ship, use torps. You're not using both of them together, or using them just because of the ammo. Just variants, which is ok.
