I sometime follow people friends enemies, but one thing that keeps happening is unexpectantly say if someone is on the other side of the planet or if they are going around it then i will go right into the planet (most of the time) a few times imy ship tried jumping through the planet. i regularely wouldn't ask for compensation or anything, i am not even asking for anything i just wanted to say that it is extremely frustrating, because i have to respawn my ship and all the times i had to go back re-mod my ship and if i lost money from modding my ship instead of having 6 mil. i probely would have about 6k.

follow takes the shortest way to the ship you are following, not the same path it went
do not follow near planets.

That's what the 'Shadow' is for.. Just push the 'G' key I believe and you'll 'follow' your friend/enemy. Just make sure to pay attention to where your going.

best bet is to never use follow at all really... except maybe a station or a dread that you're supplying...
