Does any one know if SP2 for winXP will have any effect on playing dark space??

SP2 = Service Pack 2 = operating system updates/fixes from Microsoft
If you click Start, Run, the type WinVer and enter, you'll see what service pack you're currently at.

some people may have heard already that there may be some issues with service pack2.Although some people run it with no problems,apparently there are some issues that pop up on some sytems including but not limited to T.B.S.O.D.(the blue screen of death).
service pack 2 also enables the windows firewall, which is automatically
turned on as a security default.There have been some reports of some adverse results, the systems ability to effectively receive data is compromised effecting some online multiplayer games.
Many have adopted a wait and see approach me included,(some IT companies have delayed the automatic updater function,becuase of some reports of problems) til some of the issues have been worked out.I dont claim to have all the details correct, nor can i say wheter all systems will be adversely affected, but i can say i'm delaying updating to service pack 2 for the time being.

I just hope we can turn off Windows firewall... I preffer Norton's Safer and NOT MADE BY M$

mhhh...bumping an old thead because I need a little help...when trying to install the pack it says "Atapi.sys in use" and the retry/cancel buttons apear :/

atapi.sys sounds like a driver for your cd rom drive
quick search on google bought up this link

seems to be something with daemon tools that brings this up, if you have it installed then uninstall before you update then reinstall afterwards

Yeh I know what it is its my virtual DVD drives (5 of them) on Daemon. Stupid thing wont work anyhow...thanks for the help Twitch
