Hi,
Just installed 1.476 and set up a free trial account. Updated and logged on OK, but Play, Update, Tutorial and Setup on the command bar are greyed out.
How do I get started?
Stern.

Usually this can be fixed by either updating the game by pressing the Update button in the lobby and then restarting Darkspace.
Or reinstalling Darkspace and then updating it.
I'd try updating first, because the client has to update to 1.480

Hmmm.
Did that, but no change. If i switch lobby to the beta, I can get to the server list, but I don't have the beta installed.
Tried the tutorial, which did some more updating but still no access to servers in the lobby.
The trial account can access the general release servers?
Any more ideas?
Cheers,
Stern.

By any chance do you use AOL?

No. Nildram broadband in the UK.
Got a firewall, but followed instructions in another post to open ports 9000--9013, 9050, 9100, 9101 for outbound TCP on IP range 209.198.154.11--24. FW log doesn't show any dropped/rejected connections, so assuming this is all OK.
What is the AOL problem? Might help me analyse my problem...
Cheers,
Stern.

Just seen the 'attention AOL users' post. Got a static internet-facing IP, no proxy and a NAT gateway to the internet.

Could it be that the client on my PC has sent my client IP address to the server to cross check against the IP source address?
If so the server will be checking my private address (the client--in the 192.168 range) against my public address (a real IP) because I'm using Hide NAT.
If so, then how do people with real firewalls get to play? Is there a game config setting to force my IP?
Stern

The ONLY reason those buttons would be greyed out is that the lobby can't find the location of the game EXE in your registry...
Either you installed under a different account on the machine, or your registry is corrupt..

Well that makes sense, as I installed as Administrator.
Thx!
