I know that by copying/pasting into your musics folder in the DS folder, you can get your own music (mp3s) too play while playing DS. But the feature doesn't seem to run on my comp in the current version (1.480B).
All the files are in mp3, my "music bar" in the setup is set to full, yet i dont hear anything whilst playing. Could someone help me out please

Goto the Darkspace directory on your harddisk and open the config.ini file in notepad. You should find an entry labelled
music=.Music
You can change the path to any directory where you have mp3's (e.g.:- music=C:musicfilesmp3 ) but i think you need to have the ds1.mp3 file in that directory as well.
Most people use the (more flexible) option of having WinAmp running in the background. I would advise getting a version of WinAmp 2.8 or WinAmp 5 (definately NOT 3) and making sure that the output device Winamp is using is set to DirectSound output and not Waveout in the advanced options (directsound ouput gives WinAmp independent volume control).
Big benefits to WinAmp is that playlists are randomized whereas DS always plays them in the same order which soon gets on your nerves.
*edit* Original post didn't show the backslashes

Simply dropping everything in the Music folder used to work for me.
I advice using winamp though, that way you have some control about what you listen to
