So, the history of the Humans is that they supposedly developed military space hardware after encountering pirates. Until then their ships were pretty much commercial vessels, some torpedoe launchers, no real armor. Then they find out some 'rats converted some highjacked ships, added some railguns, etc, and decided it would be a good idea to develop some space war tech.
Well, that worked in the day it was written, but doesn't stand the test of time in light of real history....
Founded Dec 20, 2019, the United States Space Force changed the trajectory of Human activity in space.
Their mission is
The USSF is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. USSF responsibilities include developing Guardians, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands

Seems to me, that this is the beginning of actual weaponization. It will start slowly, but will increase as companies find $$$ in innovation of technology.
This is the Way
Long before a space pirate sails his first skull and space bones flag, there will be a strong astro-martial tradition.
