Hi Gents,

I have been playing 100% zoomed in to test out what it is like. Currently, my view is half blocked by my ship, otherwise it feels like first person view. I think this maybe an easy fix. If at 100% zoomed in, a ship could be made invisible then DS would have first person shooter view. This view allows for more of our senses to be used and really fun to play in combat.

Cheers,
Blade

Here is another thought..

Don't fly a fricking dreadnought. Frigate or Corvette will do just a lot better and zoom in completely.
Grab a controller and map buttons to the keyboard.
Because DS uses a mouse control it will be hard to have that detailed of control on the controler so map everything, Nearest enemy, Nearest ally, Follow, spacebar, weapon group numbers, arrow keys. once you done all that bind one key that presses Tab until the view it set to 'follow'.

Now the camera follows the direction that your ship flies in, you can target nearest enemies and either spacebar or weapon control groups. you can even jump, and depending on your controller and mapping software, you might only need the mouse in Navigation (F2)..

I played DS a few times like this, and it had a darn nice arcade feel to it.

So you agree, First person view is possible on DS. When using a dread the ship takes half the view away. I t maybe easy to just make all ships transparent when fully zoomed in.

It's certainly possible, but it could only be implimented in the near future if it was a half-assed abomination of a FPV.

If you can find time to code it, remake animations to go for it, and implement it in the game without breaking anything else, then have at it! There are bigger fish to fry for now, hombre.

I think the game used to be more first person friendly when missiles were different. But I'm talking a long time ago here.
