Other games have them, why shoudn't we? It would maybe help see where everything is on the battlefield without leaving it (F2) and help avoid colliding into planets during dogfights? And there could be a toggle to disable it if you don't like it. It could be part of a modernisation of the HUD to look more futuristic/spacey. Maybe each faction's HUD colour corresponds to their colour scheme (K'luth - Red, ICC -Blue, UGTO White/Yellow?). I'm kind of thinking BGO style.



Also, a little of-topic but I don't think this needs a new thread. It's kinda annoying UGTO have the middle system as we are always under attack (from what I've experienced). Maybe all three factions could have a system and those three connect to a middle one, then it would be more balanced?

what about mounting a device in recon ships that could transmit this minimap. No recon, no minimap.

Then again I think minimap would be useless.

I dunno. I get sick of constantly switching to F2 sometimes. Sometimes you just need to see the battlefield at a glance from the top. I wouldn't say it was useless so much as that creating a minimap might not be worth the time required, if it was even possible under the engine.

I don't see why it shouldn't be. Just draw the navigation screen in a little box down in the corner.
