I am new and I seen a button for missions, but so far not found any info on where to get missions from. Where do you get them? Also is there any aspects to the game besides blowing each other up economy wise and can we dock with space stations an enter them or land on world or is that pretty much it? Just bang bang shoot em up?

Universal domination is pretty much the general goal currently.

We're working on missions, as well as dynamic events, but the list of things we want to add to the game is as long a list as you can imagine, and the framework for such systems has to be laid before anything can be done.

We're but a small team of people and we do what we can when we can.

That's kool. I just didn't wanna be looking for certain content if it wasn't in the game yet. Appreciate it.

Here's your mission cadet:

You're to kill every target that's red. Turn all planets green. and....

and....

Well that's that, really, for now anyway....

It would be nice to have something like an escort mission.

Imagine big cargo transports which are big and very heavily armored, but have no jump drive.
Your objective would be to keep them alive from point A to point B.

No idea what the benefits or reasoning could be for such a feature, but organized escort and raid gameplay is always fun.
Instead of fighting slanted battles where one team camps inside of their planetary defense grid, you're out in deep space fighting to protect defenseless cargo haulers.

I should really make this the current mission 24/7...

i can come up with daily missions fi you want, but theres no reward except eternal glory in the halls gloria.

today:

icc - capture and hold sentry levi or okag for at least 3 hours

k'luth - kill 5 icc player ships, or 5 ugto player ships

UGTO - kill 3 players without dying

also: there is a mission button? ooooh where where?

Your mission should you choose to accept:

Mission:
Kill all things red. Turn all planets green.

This message.... and your ship, will now self destruct in 10 seconds.

LOL. Let's just put it in the mission template.
That should stop all the questions.

Escort Missions sound interesting and could be good from both an offensive and defensive point of view. We already have a very free sandbox style of gameworld where most tasks can be undertaken as and when we like for the benefit of our factions. Sometimes we all fly supply or transport and on some journeys you know that we wish we had a player escort for backup. This I suppose though is more a fleet or friend thing than an outright in-game mission.
Troop drops, are necessary and can be exciting and all the more so in the upcoming 1.7 release in '2 weeks' TM ( : P ) time, where transport and supply work will be even more dangerous due to lack of offensive armament. This carries prestige gain but one area which does not is the much underappreciated and prestigeless, transfer of resources to the frontline planets, particularly in Kaus Borealis.
Mining or Starport resource transportation from planet to planet is a necessary feature for spawning ships and building strctures in the central battle system, on many occaisions I'm sure we have all been unable to spawn/transfer a ship to one of Kaus Borealis' active Shipyards due to lack of resources when the fighting gets heavy. I know I've done a few resource runs myself and I'm sure I'm not the only one so it would be nice if there was to be some sort of prestige gain in resource transfer/mining in Kaus Borealis ONLY (due to people abusing such a 'farming' technique and staying safely behind their front lines all the while ranking up with very little personal risk and being of little help to their respective faction).
So to sum up 1.7 will bring a greater need for safe passage of transports and supply but I suppose that this is again just another aspect of the Metaverse where teamwork truly makes for a better online experience. Teamwork in my opinion, planned or spontaneous, is where Darkspace shines brightest.

Well, the current transports in release are like cruisers with the toughness of scouts.

The way transports and engineers and stuff currently work, they are just really hard to defend.
The reason being is that they are so fragile, and that the enemy will destroy them before you destroy the enemy.

We kept having a destroyer jump in, kill 2 engineers, then jump out.
It was impossible to defend these engineers even though we parked right on top of them and got between the enemy and the engineer, the damage of torp splash alone killed them...

I think having actually defendable bulk transports would be fun, but there's just no reason for it to exist at the moment.

This is also a very easy 2-steps mission to do everyday:
