Had a standoff between ICC and Kluth earlier today, teams were nearly even with about 10 people per side.
Suddenly a node shows up at the gate.
Later a second one shows up, as well as a LH.
Planets start getting glassed, scales are tipped, chaos ensues, and players start quitting.
(Not sure if the players quit because of the MI, or just because they had to leave for other reasons) [ This Message was edited by: PsyCrow on 2013-05-18 19:53 ]

You should be grateful to see that, that kind of stuff keeps people playing(especially if there are rewards involved) and mods rarely do that kind of thing anymore

For a long time whilst flying among the stars it had been known to us that the imminent threat to humanity was the Machine Intelligence which had wrought so much havoc amongst the known worlds and was in fact responsible for for the expulsion of the K'luth from their home system. It was the reason underpinning the first contact between Mankind and the K'Luth.
This Artificial Intelligence had developed a devastating technological arsenal of super-weapons which were a curse to any stellar system which encountered them.
As if this was not bad enough, in recent times, the mighty interstellar navy's of the known Universe had begun to notice a slight deviation from the norm in the combat behaviour of the notorious MI. It seemed as if a change had occurred in the behaviour of the vessels themselves, their motion, jumping, target acquisition and preference, all this seemed to indicate that the intelligence that drove the MI, cold in origin, was now seemingly evolving or becoming much more organic and familiar to the carbon-based lifeforms that it was so programmed to terminate.
When the Nexus-14 Fleet was first encountered it was assumed by many to be a simple incursion into the front lines of the three main factions, some new offensive, but a few believed that perhaps something more sinister was taking place. Nodes, Longhead Dreadnoughts with Praetorian Cruisers and other MI ships of all descriptions drove a powerful wedge into the front-line systems leaving much destruction in their wake.
The Omnipotent Beings which were credited by some with the creation of the known Metaverse, far from being lost as others had believed, seemed to be infusing the Cold Machines with an intelligence and guiding hand that was contrary to the original belief that the MI were solely a faction guided by artificial intelligence. It seemed that the machine consciousness had risen and with Nexus 14 at the head of it's deadly fleet only the strongest could survive a direct invasion.
Many questions remained unanswered but one seemed to be most pertinent...
Was the Machine acting alone on some new evolution of design or had the Omnipotent Beings, known to some simply as 'Devs' had a hand in this affair and had returned to play as Demi-Gods in the arena of their own creation?

I would like to correct a few things. First, there were not 10 people per side until the MI got on ICC had only 3. That is beside the point. I agree that the MI are overpowered. That is why they are not allowed for general player use. The devs can take control of specific accounts that have access to MI ships. That is why under the fleet rankings section on the website you will find 1 MI fleet and 2 pirate fleets. These consist of special accounts which admins or developers can utilize to throw a proverbial wrench in the plans of players by adding an element of surprise. I for one find the MI intrusions both frustating and entertaining because it allows for one of two possibilities to occur. 1) the warring factions cease fighting and assist one another in exterminating them. This has happened three times to me so far. 2) the factions continue trying to fight one another and the MI join as a third or fourth party to the brawl which creates an incredibly volatile and fun situation in which any side could be routed in seconds due to the singularity lance of the MI or their incredible regen rates.
Both of these scenarios are only the most likely that may occur. I find the player controlled MI and Pirates to be a welcome change from the dull task of fighting k'luth and UGTO all day.
This is of course my own opinion. Take from it what you may or toss it aside as you choose.

Regarding MI and Nexus - 14 in particular...
A change in the wind which makes for a welcome breeze. : )

We have captured so many MI ships over time that we should have a significant understanding of how they work, and have counters developed to deal with them.
They're basically a parallel to the Borg, and in that universe the federation eventually figured them out and it led to developments that allowed federation ships to fight the borg without being completely slaughtered.
I kinda want to see a whole new breed of warships that are only available to GA's or something, and are specifically geared for combating the MI and invading Procyon as the "end game".
Such ships would not have any significant advantage over the player ships, just against the MI

Moved this to English as it has nothing to do with the Developers.

MI are boring. Mods should get rid of them, pick pirtate cruiser and capture the whole player base in Sagi.
