Dis u ever watch star gate or stargate atlantis or any movie were is everything happening is space?
In thows movies the jump thing its named hiperdrive xD...
So i suggest if u can make a hyperdrive thing and a new animation going in hyperspace or if u can
make that if u click on tytanicdrive and if the planet
got enuf resources & technology and ... If u are standing
Near the planet u can upgrade the tytanicdrive to hyperdrive
a lot of newbies would expect hyperdrive ..... It would be mutch coller
to play & jump whit hyper drive
Lol maybe in movie stargate & stargate atlantis are not going on in space only..
But when it does they use hyperdrive to trawel betwen galaxys.....
Sry 4 my bad english .......... [ This Message was edited by: xlxxuxxlx on 2012-12-06 16:16 ]

Slowly walk away. do not mess with them.
And that is why we have no hyperspace..

Yes. Those WhiteStars got alot more bite than appearances would seem to say. Afterall...one of those carved a Drahk mothership from stem to stern.
As for having a hyperdrive. Is an interesting thought but I dont think the Devs would care to ponder how much of the game would have to be rebuilt to pull that off.

I believe Star Control 2 did something like this. Where hyperspace is another dimension above normal space where you would automatically enter navigate once you left the edge of a planetary system.
There was also a B5 game, B5: I Found Her , if you're really interested in navigating hyperspace. Just like in the series, you needed to follow a series of becaons in HS. Lose them, and you'd be lost in HS forever.
Dunno how this will work in DS. But I think the current system already works fine. We have tachyon drives which acts somewhat like warp drive, and Wormhole device which basically does spacefolds.
Doing hyperspace here would be like creating another map but wouldn't actually add anything to the game.

I wonder if DS would work well with a BSG style jump drive...

That's similar to a WH device isn't it, but without that swirling portal, and only for a single ship.
Only things are:
1. You could make it such that you can't plot a jump into an enemy dictored area
2. Jumping also wouldn't take much skill or attention anymore since the player doesn't need to take into account his jump path (obstacles, dictors, etc)

As long as an idea is 1. Code-able 2. Realistic 3. Makes the game fun. Then there should be any problem with it as such. There's also the fact of weather the developers feel that the idea is going to work around it's importance in the game. I don't know their policy on this.
(by realistic I mean weather it actually makes sense to the players to basically have to use that element of the game.)
In general, it's a good idea, rather large change to the game, but like I said, some ideas are indispensable! Having said that I haven't even played Looked to see the future possibilities in beta so I don't know either way.
I think I'll sit on the fence. Like the English government.

I'm speaking from a player's perspective. Hyperspace just won't add anything to the game. If anything else, it'll make things more annoying as you can't e-jump away to escape. If you go HS, your opponent simply follows you in and finishes you off there.

did i smell BSG style jumps?
just speaking as if it were...as it is in my alternative reality in my head.
BSG jump would really have no need for skill as mentioned before, no big balls to watch out for. but the catch would be that like 10 secs after the jump no weapons or sheilds would be functional, in addition, after those 10 secs weapons would still have to charge up as if they were fired (cuz that fancy jump sucked all the power)...or in addition to addition it would suck 50% of ships energy reserves. so no skill reqierd (revuierrrid or how's it spelled ) comes with...uh...much pain in other forms... hehe..
just a tought...for fun [ This Message was edited by: Ravendark on 2012-12-13 04:59 ]
