I had some ideas for the layout of the new Command Cruisers.
I'm pretty sure that the devs will hate them, but I decided to post them anyways.


M-241A Command Cruiser

The Command Cruiser was developed in response to a request by several ICC admirals for a cruiser command ship.
It is a very versatile ship, being able to support the fleet with its weapons, build platforms, and do minor resupply work at the same time.

ST-32 Support Cruiser
The ST-32 was conceived by its designers as a support ship that could do more than a Supply Ship but was smaller than the UGTO's famous Support Stations. As a versatile ship that is useful in many situations, it has grown very popular with the lower ranking UGTO admirals.

Piercer

The Piercer is very new among the K'luth Armada. It was designed as a more versatile and durable replacement for the Worker line, however has not seen much action as of yet.

I really want a good mining ship for ICC as it has some useful tactics that could help ICC

I'm curious about the icc command cruiser are you saying that it would have be more like the border cruiser in the fact that it has 2 sets of shield generators and no armor also maybe switch the ion cannon to 2 sets of heavy rail guns with the same mounts for light anti ship work

Mines aren't really really useful at the moment. I thought a light armament would be more useful.

Correct, it's like a BC.
The IC works for anti-ship as well, and maybe even better in some situations.

I'm very well aware of that..... BUT for some reason i like mines there such a fun trol ship to use dont ask me why but i want a Mining ship in Cruiser form or dred form. why I have no clue i just like mines for some reason

I'll take guns over mines any day, especially on a command ship. Need mines? Use the minelayer dessie (I think ICC has one ).

All layouts seem nice in their own way.
ICC can support with longer range firesupport while doing utility jobs.
UGTO can support from afar with utility and fighters. Should enemies get close the cannons can drive off smaller ships.
Kluth can just torp the crud out of enemies, much like their other designs.

However, I think both supply and build drones should have global arcs as repositioning to have the person you're repping on your right all the time will be painful.

auras kinda feel like enhancements themselves. and an enhancement to improve effect of an aura (ex-captain who actually listens to fleet commands, staffing a ship command with robots) feels very stretched.

plus, auras give effect in the <10% range. you would need 2 advanced aura booster stuff for noticeable effect (which, in itself, is small... 10% of 1% is 0.1%)


only way would be through unique enhs (+20% to aura effect or similar), but after seeing that so-called makkar ship booster thingy, i dont want to see a new unique enhancement for a looooooooong time...

I've said this all the time the minelayer dessie sucks i want a beast mine layer with 4 or 5 mines. not some crap held together by duck tape

While I appreciate the interest, we've got another set of plans for new ship layouts that are going to revolutionize the whole game. While it hasn't been entirely decided yet, the odds are good that Command Auras in general--and thus Command Cruisers won't be going in until then. In that event, the current ships in Beta are just test platforms for us to ensure the Aura system is functioning properly.

Also, Supply Drones on a Command Ship is a no-no.

Command ships are support ships, are they not? Shouldnt they have the role of EW, supply, mining, and repair? Not bombing, launching fighters, being in the thick of combat. That is for the ships that they re supposedly commanding. I dont understand, if they arent just large, beefy support platforms, what it is that makes them a command platform other than a single gadget that it has that other ships don't. Is that really the difference? What am I missing?
