this has prolly been suggested before, but either way..

idk about other players, but would it be possible to add a ~% to the "Development log"? some people like to know how far and how fast updates are coming along.

Game development doesn't work like that. You can't always know how much work you have left to do.

You could say "I only have to write a bulk of the code", which could take 5 hours, but then you may have a bug that requires extensive testing to find.

There's also the fact that no-one works on DarkSpace fulltime, and as such, something may be stuck at '10%' (whatever that may mean) for an extended period of time.

Then there's the fact that you can't quantify how much of something is done via a %. You can't, for example, quantify how much testing has been done - especially if things are being constantly tweaked.

So we always use the adage, it's done when it's done, and that's the way it's going to remain.

Speaking of progress bars, how about a ranking progress bar? Like, how much more pres you need to get to a certain rank. I've noticed all modern, and also the not so modern, MMO game share these. So, why not?

I've added a percentage to next rank in the in-game profile window. It was the easiest thing to do and it gets the point across

I would love a prestige bar showing a visual on my progress to the next rank

What? Jack's adding onto his house and putting in a bar and giving free drinks to all DS players? What a guy.

maybe you dont use a progressbar like 70 / 100% done,
but a color-coded status overview
red - planed
yellow - code written but not on beta yet
blue - on beta, testing
maybe cyan - bugfixing
green - ready for live server

Generally speaking (and I might be only speaking for myself here) I only put stuff on the dev log when it's complete and in beta. I like the idea but I don't think anybody wants to put stuff on the dev log and then have to pull it off later if it doesn't work.

Plus, if it turns out that it isn't going to work out you'll still get a bunch of people asking about it and some complaining about it not being added if it was posted in the devlog.

I think you're doing it right, Frob.

Um...are they still there? I don't see them on the command ships I spawn...
