Well it looks like, thanks to Doran, that DarkSpace has finally gotten Xfire support:
http://forums.xfire.com/showthread.php/260822-DarkSpace?highlight=darkspace and http://www.xfire.com/blog/theblog/ : )
Az got us started, but me and my brothers still use xfire for in-game voice-comms. I knew that it was talked about before but I was quite surprised to see the DS icon show up next to their names in our chat room. I checked and sure enough, Ds had xfire in-game support.
Now I don't know how many of you people have ever used xfire before but the reason that I wanted everyone to know this was because of xfire's ability to easily record in-game video.
Xfire is a simple program to use. You can easily start and stop the recording at any time while playing and afterwards you can go over them and choose which ones you want to keep or delete in a window that opens up. That same window also has an upload button where you can upload your videos right to YouTube or Facebook if you have your accounts connected to xfire. (Edit: It doesn't look like it supports uploads to Facebook yet. It says Coming Soon)
YouTube and Facebook are a great way to get the name of DarkSpace out there so I encourage you guys to start recording and start uploading and let people know that DarkSpace is still very much alive : )
To test it out I recorded a vid of K'luth and UGTO attacking the MI in Procyon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7zsJog5Urw&feature=youtu.be
If you have any connection problems with the DS server with xfire running, try turning DS on first, then xfire. Running both as admin helps also.

This is awesome, but I wish we had a more up to date community on the site.

I wouldnt get your hopes up.
Not only is darkspace a very obscure and, TBH, not for the masses game, Who uses xfire these days anyway?
Steam... Origin... Desura... PSN... Xbox live... Impulse...
Xfire and gamespy arcade have had their day.

Me and my brothers still use Xfire. Anyway the post is more about making the videos with xfire rather than xfire itself.
As for those other programs you mentioned, I'm not sure what Desura or Impulse are but the other ones mentioned are not quite the same as xfire. Xbox Live and PSN? DS is a pc game. Origin is for EA and even Steam which is probably the most popular for pc games from the ones that you mentioned is not really the same. Xfire must not be doing too bad because it is still around and still constantly updating.
As for DarkSpace, any little bit can help it. I am not hoping for "masses" either. Even just having 10 people on each faction at a time would be a big improvement from the current numbers and would be enough to make me happy. It doesn't have to stay "obscure" forever : )

ummm Impulse was bought out by Game stop, and its only use is to buy digital games and update them

Actually, I made that topic, asking for support on DarkSpace
I made it months ago and I thought it had been forgotten and never even looked at by the xfire devs.

Yeah you did start it but it was right after Doran posted that second post that they did it. Anyway, it's good either way.
Still haven't had time to take any good video footage : (
