So i been messing with the fighters alot recently and i was wondering if when your fighters target is destroyed or cloaked y does your fighters return to ship why does it not continue to fight all the enemy that are out there(if there out there) so i'm wondering if i am just not doing something right to give it orders when deployed or that just how they are
so if you cant give new orders or they just attack enemy as they see fit
could that be a possible fix if not already

I'm pretty sure this has been covered a few hundred times, but basically fighter AI improvements are being worked on to make them more effective.

Currently, fighters are basically missiles with guns and are just barely smart enough to try and keep out of range of their targets.

This means yes, they will only attack one target and will return to base if they lose track of that target.

And they should return to base when they're out of bomb, too.

Please give bomber fighter the same ammunition as player has. 40 seconds cooldown and just 2 bombs on each fighter makes Command Station totally inferior to bomber cruiser.

Fighters were useful at one point, just like planet defense. It seems like when one improvement is made something else gets a setback. Now adays we just hide it by deleting posts in the forums. I don't like the way things have headed in the past years.

At one point, yes.

However, both fighters and missiles are very taxing on the server's CPU, so we decided that fighters launching missiles would be a bit too much.

my thought's are simply isnt the interceptor built for PD?

Your post was deleted in the 1.672 topic because it was off-topic and had nothing to do with testing beta .

We had to change planet defences, because we were getting to a point where we couldn't do anything to the game because we were beyond the point of the server being OK - it was running at near 100% all the time, which was why it was lagging so often.

We've stated this often enough, and although people may not like it, it was a neccessairy evil to improve the game in other areas that are far more important. Planets were the largest hit on the server, using nearly 50% of the resources alone on Sag - this was unacceptable, and the existing system was already as optimised as it could be (contrary to popular belief, the server is insanely optimised).

You can not like it as much as you want, there's nothing we can do about it, which is also why fighters got their missiles removed (high CPU nouns spawning high CPU nouns = not a good idea).

I was tempted to remove this post, as it's blatently unfounded, untrue, and you have no idea why the changes were made, but I decided to let it stand and correct you instead.
