Privateering Bug?? |

There is absolutely no way to get pres for privateering after the first capture. I've tried with 2-4-6-8 drops of inf.
Okay so the problem is after I capture my first ship I can no longer capture or receive pres for any other ships. No matter how hard I try. I've been gone 3 years from this game so I don't know much of anything anymore. But I'm pretty sure that ship capturing is the same??
Would someone please fill me in on what's going on? Whether I'm doing it wrong or my profile is just bugged? BTW it does work again after a day or so but again after the first capture it won't work anymore, at least not for another day or so.

Capturing has a few factors, but basically it comes down to LUCK.
unload infantry on to the enemy ship and make sjure it survives
For the capture process the Factors are:
Is the invaded ship a Admin? > to bad.
Does the invaded ship have infantry on it > it will have to fight those first
How much infantry did actually land on the enemy ship > the more successfully landed the more chance.
The ship fights off the invaders, either your infantry wins, or the enemy ship destroys your infantry and you fail in the capture.

I think I can identify your problem.
Patience. It isnt a works-every-time thing. Its random.

Privateering isn't an easy thing to do, however there are ways of raising your chances that I have used over my years here to get my 73 captures:
1) Use elite infantry, these can sometimes be found on specific planets that get a lot of activity from enemy infantry being dropped on them, alternatively, if somebody tries to capture you, your infantry will be trained by the battle, another way is to RAZE enemy planets, this will also train your infantry up.
2) Damage your enemy, this hasn't been proven, however my chances have always seemed higher when my enemy is at low hull, I believe this is due to system damage, if you don't capture a ship your infantry will damage systems, however if there are no systems to damage, capture will be more likely... Such is the theory, anyway.
Remember to be patient. As stated above, it is random, even if you raise your chances with these techniques, you aren't going to capture them all. You should also keep in mind that most players will have infantry onboard, this makes it harder to capture them, you should wear down your enemy by dropping several loads, each ship can hold as many enemy infantry as there are cargo slots, no matter if the cargo is full or empty, so drop a few infantry, then a few more after a few minutes if the ship hasn't been captured, this will wear down any defenses.
Hope this helps,
-JBud

Actually, afaik rank of infantry doesn't effect chances of capping.

It does seem totally random yes. I've had 2 or 3 full loads of elite heavy inf fail at capturing, and other times I've dropped a load of veteran infantry and had it succeed the first time.

The only thing ranked infantry help with is defeating other infantry. Not an insignificant advantage when boarding stations and dreadnoughts, who can carry significant infantry.

I've dropped 110 infantry on a pirate station before it capped. That's 11 full transport loads.

Unholy flaming bags of dog crap. Yeah, I think at that point I'd have just kept dropping troops on it too just to see how long it would take before it actually capped.
