Ive always wounder d what happens when you cap a ship. i thought that you got the ship not the AI. because that would give new players and people who play as only one faction to use another factions ships. this would give new players a taste of whats to come. i am 1st rear admiral Ive tried capin stations and dreads. but it never works. well i found out that ship capin is not easy so it would make tryin to get a ship more fun and seam a little less pointless. if you agree then post your thoughts below.

okay from what people say i agree and disagree with some peoples ideas.
1.i do not think that you should get the ship in the grange.
2.i do think you should get control of the caped ship. the ship that you used to cap either becomes ai and returns to the nearest ship yard or self destructs. or maybe you could dock your ship to theirs if its big enophe.
3.if you cant do 2 then it should follow you around until destroyed. and or you change the AI orders.

I would like it that way, and I was expecting the same thing when I capped my first ship, but I have a feeling someone is gonna QQ about it being OP, or too easy, etc etc.

I guess what he's saying is to make it like Battlestation Pacific, where you can toggle between the ships you "own".
Toggling to the other ship will leave your other ship to AI control.
Of course, I don't see this happening in DS, knowing the Devs.

i think it would be cool if u capp a ship it becomes yours and its stored in the garrage to use like one of your own ships. but not be able to use both yours and the capped ship at once. Say i capp a ead ok now it's mine and i can use it, itll be green to my faction but red to it's own like normal but i fly it.

1. Bad bad bad idea. Your talking about being able to hop into an EAD as an ICC player....and technically ships don't die anymore...so......hell no bad idea.
2. Capturing is not worthless just because you don't get to fly it. That's entertainment value, not game value. I have, on more than one occasion, turned a 2 vs 1 their way into a 2 vs 1 my way by dropping on one of their ships at the beginning of the engagement.
3. The only thing that needs to be brought back is targeted infantry drops on ships, so that you could, say, target the jd module, drop your troops, and they go in and tear up the enemy's jd. That we used to be able to do. And we used to be able to retrieve inf back from the ship too.
Keeping capped ships is just a balance breaking nightmare.

KK i like point 3 tho i wasnt here for that i wud like that and i also like the ICC player in a UGTO EAD hehehe fun stuff just let me find nem in his EAD tho ok control of it may be out of da pic right so wat bout instead that capped ship goin and doin somethin eles how bout it set to defend the person who caped it since in beta you wont be able to buy AI any more as seen in beta store which means its gonna be in release right? ok so yea enemy capped ship may still be AI but it follows you around and it defends you and well you get da picture and when you die it dies like you both explode wait hmm i take that back i die alot thus my new found capped nem wud be usless hmm how bout when you die it jumps away and waits for you to come back and it goes away when you log out hehhe nem your ship will be mine if this works:) -GA Ray has spoken
P.S.SHUSH NEM!

the old system would have the captured ship fight any enemies in the system that show on it scanner. If none/when all dead, it heads to an exit gate and exits.
Far as I am aware, it still works that way, except that exit gates are sometimes far from the ship, or it may die first. Also, as there are usually enemy ai around, it keeps reaquiring targets.
I would like for a capped ship to be orderable by the capping player, which they currently are not. Even in the homeservers, I can order the elite ai to defend or goto, but not capped ships.
just a lil elaboration.

Azrael pretty much said what I was going to, the only change that would make any sense for a captured ship would be making them orderable by the player that captured it. That alone would be more than enough of an incentive to try capturing ships.

I would like capped ships to become like item shop ships in that they follow and defend the player untill death or after the standard time limit as is with item shop ships.
