So now that im getting use to my ship, im wondering about weapon upgrades.
Im wondering what gives what?
AI seem to give only standards stuff. But is there any AI in particular that gives more rare items? Or can those only be nabbed by killing other players?

There are rare spawns that give better enh, they normally hang out nearer to the home systems for their corresponding factions. Many people go elite hunting, they are also easy to spot becuase of their names. It will sound official.
Also u can buy credits in the DS Store and buy enhhancements. This lets you outfit any particular ship with the exact enh u want on it. Like a AD with all def enh (that was fun), or a combat dessy with speed enh, or a mixture of many others that are available.
Note: forgot to mention that players, when killed, give u an enh. The more and better the enhancements on the player that got killed the better drop u will get. Like when I die in my AD i have given people colored exhuasts b4.

Ok so i understand killing players, and atm not really rolling in $ to buy any credits but whats this thing about elites, i have seen people talking about it before but never really understood what was being talked about.
Are elites those alien AI ships? How do you go about hunting them?

Elites usually have the word elite somewhere in their name.

if by "usually" you mean "always", and by "somewhere in" you mean "at the end of" then yes.

hey to all
im hunting elites for some weeks , and i could say , i got many NICE things
i know where and what things droped by almost all elites in all factions .....
the MI elite is the one i dont know what he drops .......
nice hunts for u all

You will find the elites in their home system like some people said earlier. Like UGTO near Sol system and etc. But you can find some elites in the AI system, which is Rogen's Rift (I think? ) Or in the MI system.
They drop some blue enh and sometimes none (can happen)
You can identify them because of their name. Let's use my name for example.
Fleet Admiral Maxwell House [Elite]
Normally they are a lot stronger then their normal conterparts.
If you take a normal frigate and comparite it to an Elite frigate you'll see the difference.

Well my first elite hunt went super well thx to all of you helping me figure out what in the world to do.
So thanks all, gives me somthing to pass the time durnig the slow hours now
