So i just got my new dread, and i love it. The power of its wepons and all.

And it brought a question to mind. During the slow hours i was on the hunt for any online players and i saw a lone little engi ship (player) I went up and "Boom" my new guns blew him into tiny peices.

He asked why did i kill him to which i ask "Isn't that the point of the game?"

Now to be nice i said to him, "Ok ill leave you alone" He ingorned that and never even said "Thx" or "ok"

Im ok with no "thx" but i wanted to know what the community thinks of the big ships picking on the small ships.

The way i figured its a "war" game but maybe "you" the community play diffrently, whats your take on all that? Can shoot anyone you want as many times as you want?

It is quite mean to kill small ships like that

but there is no rule against it and it is an open pvp game after all

to bypass to long lecture: it's up to you if you kill engis etc. with a dread, but if you do, there's nothing they can do about it apart from switching ships and fighting back.

im not an old player but i think i have a saying in this....

scouts are ok to kill cause the can be a bit buggy...

tranny's are ok to kill since they are a threat with all those troops...

but engineers? no threat at ALL, if you are afraid that they might build a dictor or an offence base against you....just shooo them

fire one weak gun or beam as a warning...if they dont run away do it again untill they get the message or they die (AI engineers r ok to kill).

if they run and come back with a dread then you could have some fun ^^

Small ships provide vital services to your enemy. Stop them at all cost. srysly pple have it too easy now days...

I know for a fact that most people will attack engies just for the slight kill count. I was rebuilding a planet that a MI attacked and was attacked by ICC dread that warped next to me just to kill me and head back to the gate, But Kluth do the exact same thing except! they cloak til they are on you, then attack! lol

People will smack you if you are in an engi. I'm against that but there is nothing you can do except decide to roll command station, which they then complain that you are "station spamming".

His fault for being in a place where enemies can find him easily.

His fault for not being aware of enemies, both player and ai ships.

Also, he should've been ready to jump away if he was building near a hostile territory.

And if the dread killed the engineer in a surprise attack, congrats to the guy who was bored enough to kill a small engineer instead of the ai dread nearby.

Unfortunatly the new layouts force you to face the planet, leaving you littile time to jump away.

Good news is that with planet pd gone we don't have to build in f3 anymore.

EDIT: Spelling.

If it is red, it is dead.

engineer or any other small ship need to be alert with their "situational awareness".

DAMN, pegasus beat me to it...
+1 If its red its dead.

And if you are looking for something to kill in the slow hours and you see an engi I would kill it.. because i am bored. If they want to carry on building while you are sitting in your dread looking for something to PEW PEW. Thats there issue...

I object! It's cruel!
I bet you use combat dreadnaught or something like that... No don't. Just pick assualt cruiser ;]

Whoever asks why one's killed must be new in game. Ya can teach one rough lesson but I suggest leaving him alone. Feeding a hatredness is ... terrible.

The only time it's really frowned on by a lot of people is if it's in scenario, especially near the beginning of a round when people are trying to get planets set up. There's a few people who I've seen repeatedly join new scenario matches just to harrass anyone who's trying to build, then leave as soon as the other side gets a Shipyard set up and starts getting bigger ships.

For me it entirely depends on where they're building. If it's somewhere out of the way I leave them alone. If it's a nearby planet and building it can be a threat or disrupt my plans or my faction's, I'll attack.

If he's building a depot planet, I'm attacking no matter what

In scenario I saw a duo flying around with 1 interdictor and 1 battle cruiser, purposely picking on engineers. Now that's frowned on. I don't remember their names and don't think they play anymore.
