So, I was flying around in the command carrier last night, and thought to myself, "What if there was a way to do a broadcast of bonus effects to allied ships?" Really make it a command ship that can effectively aid the fleet, instead of a random jack of all trades sort of thing.

Theres already an aoe with the dictor field, what if you were to recode it as a device on the command carrier with a specific set of bonuses? Say, a 5% global increase to def, speed, turn rate, what have you. A visible effect, so pilots know which ships effectively buffing the fleet. Would also give incentive for commanders to use it, I certainly would.

Oh, making it a non-stacking bonus would remove the possibility of just spamming it to hell and back to get uberleetbuffage.

It was discussed before and as far as I remember it's set to be implemented with the rest of the ship layout changes.

I would also like to see command ships (either dread or station) have a speed bonus when capping planets.

This has been considered, I believe. No idea if it's was thumbs-upped, though.

Personally though, I think it would be pretty cool.

Do you know when the CPU usesage is high, all platforms are deactivated?
Well, actually I want 1 tractor beam and 1 mining beam on Command dread, instead of 1.
On a second thinking of it, Command Dread is such a full collection of DS gadgets.

Jack of all trades, Specialist to none. that is the Command class dreadnought.

There have been discussions for a while to give the Command Class ships (dreadnought & station) a AOE gadget. This gadget would boost stats other ships inside a certain radius from the command ship.
This idea is still in the planning/discussion phase and may or not make it onto the drawing board. But it is favored, due to the fact that it would give something unique to the command class ships other then just the build drone.

why do we need to be more WoWish? Its these types of AOEs that are a pain to balance, and DS has enough issues with balance.

Nm. Deaf ears, horses to water, forrest for the trees, and all that cliche' crap.
