The thing in the top right corner looks like an armor, shield and energy display. It does look pretty sweet, but at the same time, ancient.

The HUD in the upper right was the original stab at the hull, heading, and velocity indicators.. FYI

Yeah. Some of the old screenies are nice, especially the SY one. Seems that the current interface is streamlined somewhat.
But the SY one should revert to that. Seeing wireframes of each ship, along with the specs and weap layouts is cool.

Engineering was F3, now the planet key. IIRC there was a voice that said "Engineering" when you switched to it.
I didn't know just how oldPirate station hulls were. Don't see the Jolly Roger, so I imagine the pirates stole this ship from either the ICC or UGTO?
And looky the ICC shields!

A lot of those screenshots are before even me.
What I loved back then was the simplicity of ship layouts. Notice how few weapons there were on the ships.

Probably the winged dread I'm thinking of. I believe it was described as a carrier; The hull was a typical UGTO dreadnought, but with the aformentioned massive wing-like structures on the sides with what I assumed were hangar pods in them.

Somewhere in the forums the old Darkspace cover has unusual dreadnaughts for the UGTO, that look kinda like wings.
Edit: Eledore has a large version of the poster, link is here

That winged UGTO dread looks like a dragonfly and ICC looks like a lionfish.

I miss when ships had less than 20 gadgets at the most.
