Assault Dreadnought Energy..PFE drives.. |

Its several months ago i played Darkspace and it seems to me like the ICC Assault Dreadnought cant stand much a fight anymore. When i used all PFE drives, or some, i had a lot of energy at the cost of speed of course. Now PFE drives seem useless and after 2 Beam strikes my AD is a sitting duck.
I might try reactive shields and expensive enchancements but i guess that wont change much. I have the feeling there is no more weapon against Kluth, beside switching to lower Shipclass and play the "anoying fly" part.
What do you think about this issue? Thank you and sorry for bad english.

We actually buffed energy generation across all ships. Energy generation now degrades when your ship surpases its cruising speed (base speed). In the case of the AD, it's 3 GU/s (before, it would start losing energy the moment your speed went above 0). And to top it off, the AD has better energy systems than the EAD.
I'm affraid what you're experiencing is all in your head.

PFE drives are useless anymore, just stick with IE drives, they are better balanced.

Are you sure? Back then i could turn "power to shields" at 0 speed and with 4 PFE drives i still would lose energy veeery slowly and with reactive shields at the sides and some blue enchancements not even lose energy at all. Well, i will search inside my head if i find something else beside blankness and will check out a litle more ingame.

Back when I first implimented 'Defence Mode' for shields, they were very unbalanced and extremely overpowered, so I increased their energy drain, as well as their regen rate to further discourage use in-combat.

I prefer PFEs to IEs on the EAD i'd rather have the extra time to fire heavy lasers than a few extra GU/sec, If I need to travel fast I have a jump drive. On the Battledread I tend to use a combo since staying out of range is more important using pcannon fire, and with a mix of drives I can maintain more energy while going fast.

I've been back about a week and i did a complete engine/energy drain test on my favorite ships, usually ICC cruisers and dreads.
I figured out a perfect balance of energy drain - weapon fire ratio, particularly in the Assault Dreadnaught, at least for my flying style. It may or may not work for you. I can't really share my trade secrets though sorry. Unless of course you were in my fleet (insert shameless recruitment plug here). Your just gonna have to figure it out for yourself. I wonder why no one has mentioned AFE *?*
Happy Hunting

Afaik, AFE just gives you a higher max energy.

I tried IE, PFE and AFE. So far, I'm liking the AFE better of all things. The one listed as the oldest tech. Maybe it is my own play style, I dunno.

I was under the impression that it had higher max energy and lower speed/regen. Is that true?
