- Ships now repair while docked.
- Docked ships now cost 25% of their resource cost to spawn from a shipyard.
- Ships now cost resources again if they are build
Pro:
- auto-repair (slowly) inside grarage. (does this also apply to shields?)
- resources and plantes get a higher value ingame
- spawn fee reduced spamming of high-level ships
- more different planet build-layouts are needed(!)
- making smaller ship usefull (extractor, cruisers, etc...)
Contra:
- spawning at the transfer gates is still possible (loophole to evade the spawn fee)
- spawn fee of 25% perhaps too much (a fee of 15%-20% would be better, rigth now its way to hard)
- unbalanced planet distribution in MV-map (prime example BD-System, just count the planets - almost all Barren, no real SY planet)
- resources production of planets and the mining too low
- resources distribution AI not good enough
- AI Extractors not mining, they work like transports
- planets with mines are easy to capture (perhaps lowering a bit the mining building requierments to enable a bit defence)
possible changes:
- reduce spawn fee to 15%-20% (i would like 20%)
- increase mining rate of planet-mines and the mining beams
- increase colony hub production (+15 mining and +1 production)
- give bonus income for rare stuff on planets (all can stack)
Hydrogen +5 mining
Oxygen + 5 mining, +1 production
Metals +10 mining
Heavy Metals +10 mining, +1 production
Cryo Metals +20 mining
Hyper Matter +20 mining, +1 production
Dark Matter +30 mining
Urdanium +30 mining, +1 production
(just an example for the numbers)
- increase bonus event powers (boom, rare ore find etc.. make them stronger and last longer)
- reduce the tech-need of mining buildings (not the need to build, but the need for constant tech-supply. T3 Mine need 70 tech to work, perhaps lower it to 50 or 60 tech)
- increase the maxium cargo of planets
Barren - add 25k = 75k
Ice - add 50k = 150k
Aquatic - add 75k = 225k
Arid - add 75k = 275k
Terran - add 100k = 400k
Homeworld - add 100k = 600k
(just an example for the numbers)
- reduce ships initial resource costs by about 10-20% (ships like extractors should be reduced by 50% in order to enable them to be spawned even at low resource planets)
- rebalance the amount of planets and planet types(!!!) in the systems. (see BD in MV)
- increase the amoutn of AI Tradeships for resource transports
- create a real extractor AI which mines resources and drops them on SY planets
- give planets a passive bonus if mining beams(!) are used on them (so that extractor ship mine faster)
Inferno - melted/liquid stuff +100% mining rate
Barren - high amount of ore +50% mining rate
Ice - medium amount of ore +20% mining rate
Aquatic - almost no ore on surface -50% mining rate
Arid - evenly distributed stuff normal mining rate
Terran - medium amount of ore (mostly used by population) -20% mining rate
- give us the possibility to order AI Transports around so that they get the "Trade" mission (shipping res between planets)
- increase the amount of Transport and Extractor AI ships
Homeserver 2-3 Extractors (mining res!) and 4-5 Transport for shipping stuff
MV Server 1-2 Extractors and 2-3 Transports
Dangerous:
- enemy players can switch faction and "eat" a SY's resources within seconds via spawning and scraping their ship - a new form of sabotage is possible

Story : Some supply ship came to your ship and refueled it, then your second-in-command gave directions to dock the ship, because the high command doesn't want its ships lingering around.
Theory : Ships dock in the last flown server' closest gate/SY, reason not known.
@Suggestions for resource management : +1.

because otherwise your ship would just remain in game when you logged out, fair game for anyone who stumbled across it, costing you whole tens of prestiege. the ship would also never be in your garage unless it gets all blowed up, and if it doesnt, it'd be the first ship you're put in the next time you log in, eliminating most of your ability to chose ships (unless you fly it over to a shipyard and dock it.) Well, as I mentioned in the other thread, 2-3x increase in mine output and 25% increase in planet resource capacity would be nice. It's not too much, but it would make a difference. AI Extractors that actually MINE a planet and not just pull resources out of a starport to drop somewhere else would be nice too. Good ideas about the planetary events.
Darn you and your NES Contra pic, Doran. You beat me to it.

All fantastic ideas. Of course the numbers would have to be tweaked around but I like it.

i think that because of this patch there will b a decrease in players. this is cause the ppl with dreads and stations really enjoyed dooing big damage. and the factions usually balanced out. i think that that res fee should b eliiminated and the fee for a new ship should be reduced. or else it wont b much fun

I do like the idea of AI extractors mining instead of acting like transports, so long as they mine shipyard planets first and ignore non-shipyard planets unless no shipyard is in system.
We also need a way to make mined resources personal resources. The problem I was talking about a few days ago is already starting: some people mine, others wait at ship select screen to use those resources because they don't feel like mining. If the resources you're bothering to mine are yours only to use (optional to make them personal) then you don't have to worry about someone else stealing them. Anyone else who wants a ship can do the same.

But you can't order a Extractor to mine, beacuse there is no "mine order" or you can't order transport to "trade" resources between planets, beacause the order is not there.

used to be...WAY back when..you could set planets/Ai to transfer certain metals from 1 planet to another...then once resources got low..cancel said orders...any chance of reinstituting that?would mean you dont have to have 1 set planet for mining and have it constantly destroyed to limit your faction's shipbuilding capabilites in one go.would also give you a reason to destroy enemy trannies (which I always do as I can).
we also had a send order box to click to give missions.would be WAY better than the current right click to........OH CRAP I JUMPED...... button. [ This Message was edited by: Fatal Command (CO) on 2010-07-07 11:02 ]

wow you pretty much covered everything i support this idea and it should be implimented as soon as possible due to the nature of this game just about all the ugto planets are at low resources cause of this new stupid resource cost to spawn, they should go back to the old resources system with planets sharing resources and tech through space ports

I HATE THE IDEA OF SHIPS COSTING RES!!!!!1!
i think it was intended for the game to work like that, i agree with the adjustments to planets with bigger res max and mining bonuses and all that but as far as i know, the game is fun the way it is and making the res go away and with teh new sabotage would really disrupt teh game with 10 players always in extractors. if ships were to cost res then there would need to be more then 32 spaces allowd so plenty of mines can be built. the mines reqs need to be cheaper and output stupendoesly incresed!! if things were to go the way i said then that would be a possibly fatal idea. lots of ppl would leave. (grumbles)

Some points of view:
Don t like this planet resourse thing ... just annoys and not good...Players like a lot of us.. WORK and STUDY and dont have much time to spend hours mining to use our own ships.... we just try to take advantage of our reduced time to enjoy and relax.
love i can sup now a freindly ship by right click while im shooting a target.
Eliminate camara rotation on right click. MAke it only for actions / orders.
Nice work... ! but i think still needs more fixes before it is released.... may cause a disaster... i logged in 3 times today and each time less people were in.. till i was alone ! and hearing much compalins ingame... many afraid to lose rpestige they log off
Keep on the good work!

Dislike! I still use that, it should at least be made optional not scrapped all together.
