Coming back, it is nice to see most of the major issues of Darkspace have been fixed, and to be honest, I have been left with nothing to seriously complain about (There are times I occasionally pose questions and comments, but only to generate constructive discussion). However, there is one remaining, lasting issue that has constantly nagged at the back of my head ever since I have returned.

The new model for the Carrier Cruiser is awesome, but I found it a bit purplexing to give the Carrier Cruiser, which already had the Guppy, a brand new model when we already have a ship that is in desperate need of a new model.

I give you the Command Carrier. Awesome loadout and stats, the only problem I see with this ship is the fact its model looks nothing short of terrible, and it makes me sad a little on the inside that such a great ship has such an ugly look.

Im still trying to figure out where the bold red stripes on the cc come from. So out of place for the color scheme of that faction that it looks gaudy to me.

I see them red stripes and it just makes me wanna charge it like a bull.

I agree with Az. That colorful ship makes me very curious. Curious to the extent where I would point jump it just to check out those racing stripes.

Thereafter I would proceed to start blasting it to bits.

Funny thing.... Coincidence really...

I was just posting this in the Core Weapons thread, and out comes this thread.

Suggested some slight changes to fighters to make carriers more useful in projecting their power over long ranges. Go check it out.

uhh, Kenny? This thread is about the Command Carrier's model/texture, not about its combat performance.

The only new models ICC got post-release was the Missile Cruiser, Carrier Cruiser, and the Guppy. The Missile and Carrier cruisers have the red stripes, the Guppy does not.

I actually love the red and blue color scheme. But I would take an Command Carrier without red stripes... hell, I would be happy if they just used the M400 model for the command carrier.

Basically, almost anything other than what it has now.

The Command Carrier and the Missile Dread both are the only ones ICC has that are based on the old M300 class hull. This hull is old but still gets the job done, the newer M400 and M400-A class hulls were made with the Combat/Bombing and Assault roles in mind.
I go agree with the fact that the M300 looks like something with two giant mushrooms coming off its back, BUT that old hull had a few advantages over the new M400's. I don't know if this is true but at some time the 300's had a slightly stiffer hull then the 400's (something like better damage reduction or a little more hull HP), but they had 1 less turn rate then the 400's.

Some new models would be nice to see throughout the game since its been 7 years since anything "new" came out.

The 300 and 400 series have had the exact same stats for years, the only ICC dreadnought that had differing hull/armor stats was the 410 series, also known as the Assault Dreadnought. The AD's hull was slower and more sluggish on turns, but had more armor and more hull HP.

But, I am not sure if this is still the case.

The MD should have red skin, with missile tattoo on the left engine, and the word "spam" on the right engine, yellow paint.

The CC should have green skin, with the purple word "MT" (multi-task) on its body.

It is not that the Command Carrier's skin thats butt-ugly (By the way, can you guys please stop using the CC acronym, since we have no idea if you are talking about the Command Carrier or the Carrier Cruiser), it is the fact the model is an abomination in a faction that is supposed to have blocky angular ships.

Hell, I would be fine if they just changed the model and used the same textures. The textures themselves are not ugly, just bland. But at least decent enough that they can be tolerated on a Command Carrier replacement model.
