for the past few days it's happened to me now.
i'll be at 0.0gu and align to a jump orbit via pressing "o" button
and yet i'll still plow straight into the orbiting planet, i know i have to orbit or the planet smashes into me anyways, but at 0.0gu i still hit the planet it's kinda annoying. only seems to happen in metaverse server though.
any idea what is causing it or anything?

Collision detection is funny huh? amazing how it can detect a tiny pcannon projectile hitting you, but a whole planet? nothing is there!

I'd guess lag/desync issues?
I've never had that happen before and all my planet collisions are from my early days of flying when I would plow into stars or jumping through planets.

Just a second ago I was moving and I aligned to planet and then hit orbit... my dread jumped to the planet only to jump out... I didn't directly smash into the planet right away but I didn't even have time for me to move at all before I smashed into it...
I've lost 4 ships like this

Must be the new Speed-PlanetSize jumping system which places ships closer to planets than before. I remember I used to emerge 300 gus from any normal planet in cruisers at 10 gu/s, and now i emerge 150 gus from a normal planet in dreads at 5 gu/s. Scary >_<
Hope they fix it in the next patch.

I have never had this issue .... I hope you guys are doing the direct orbit jump at an angle and not straight into the target planet.
you know left or right side of planet clear white line with more than enough space from planet surface
just making sure you dont try to calculate a jump like that head on to a planet
I did that when I first started playing in 2002 and hit planets then .....
dont do that lol
hope this helps )

Haven't had it myself.
But question for the guys here.
You use O (orbit) why not use the J (jump) first.
When you are in jump you can preform autopilot orders.
So when you jumping still have the planet selected and press O, i just want to figure out if its a Jump related issue or a Orbit autopilot.
Usually i never like selecting planets because of this, i set a manual jump target and Press J, then i select a planet and press O. My custom jump command will be folowed, and then when the jump is completed the autopilot will follow the orbit command.
Realy, realy handy to be able to set a single autopilot command afther your jump.
p.s. canseling autopilot order is as simple as a press of S, while keeping your current heading..

its an orbit issue, not a jump one.Saw Zero and Borgie both do it.I do J then O NEVER O
AI are stupid ,and you guys want to trust em with 2 orders at the same time???

just shot the nav-officer with the ai-core into the nearest sun and fly by hand
(just observe MI-ships in procyon, they like smashing into planets)
