Heavy Supply Ship Needs a Slight tweaking. |

as you know i use the heavy supply ship alot, and one thing i have noticed is the weapons..
the heavy supply ship has 2 laser weapon slots, which gets used for the standard chemical laser..
i have spoken to several players about their thoughts on it and all have agreed in the tweaking i am about to put forward.
as i mentioned above that the heavy supply ship as 2 laser slots, however these weapons on a supply ship are rather worthless..
i do agree the supply ship needs to have some form of light weaponary so keep the cannons, however change the supply ships format to allow us to switch the standard chemical lasers for pulse beams..
or create a faster firing laser built just for the supply ships.
it won't make a bit of difference in a fight against another ship however it protects the supply ship slightly more due to the quicker firing rate with missiles and fighters, which seem have appeared way more then back when i started in 2002..
now 2010 there is tons more fighter spam and missile spam then in the previous year, so i believe to combat this the smaller ships need to have a better chance of surviving these..

Use them for point defence, as it was designed. Pulse beams are ICC tech, UGTO won't be getting it.
If you actually pilot your ship instead of just hitting F/G on another player, missiles have a pretty much a 100% chance of missing you. [ This Message was edited by: BackSlash on 2010-04-19 09:48 ]

the point i was making, is because i hardly ever F/G players, i am always on the move, however due to the mass spamming of fighters/missiles that has appeared recently the lasers are busy firing on them but always miss the beacons which hit the ship, causing the sig to sky rocket and everything and everyone else can lock on to the ships

If you want to gun down all incoming missiles, fighters and beacons, you should consider a fleet of Picket Destroyers.

perhaps it could use another CL in full arc, or perhaps 2 more but without a full arc?

Lets clarify the meanings of the word 'supply' and its branch words:-
Supply (Generic) - The act of providing resources or services beneficial to a target object's condition; to help an object by revitalising it.
Supply (DS) - A vessel that acts as a reload drone platform for repairs and reloads.
Supply ship (DS) - A vessel which acts as a basic reload drone carrier and has general-purpose weaponry and beam systems, of destroyer hull size. Can stand its own against small ships, like scouts or frigates.
Heavy Supply ship (DS) - A vessel which acts as an advanced reload drone carrier and has minimal defense systems. Can stand against scouts only, requires escorts in battlefields.
Guess this clears why the ugto suppy has 2 beams and high armor, icc suppy has 4(?) beams and weak shields+armor, and luth suppy has....3 beams only. (note, Ultimate workers are called ultimate for a reason, tier 3 suppy -.-)
No reason to increase beams or call pusle beams for ugto suppies, these cons are meant to make them easy targets.

ICC Supplies don't have armour.
And a brilliant deduction here. Picket Destroyers aren't Supply Ships. Correct. And Supply Ships aren't Picket Destroyers.
Get where I'm going with that?
You're saying the UGTO Heavy Supply needs more beams or a more efficient way of gunning down missiles, fighters and beacons.
My argument is that that's a Picket Destroyer's role.

The ship loadouts are fine as they are. The fact of the matter is the reason why supply ships get blasted out of the sky so often is the fleets dont defend them like they used to.
And as stated before, following a dread or station around on follow or shadow is a very very bad idea.
Most supply ships can fly around and avoid most fire, hince why they are sometimes so hard to hit. Best advice I can give for supply ship pilots is stay out of the main battlefield and remain closer to dictored planets.

the UGTO heavy supply ship is the only ship that can do combat supply and live to tell about it. All other supps die if you so much as look at them funny. What needs to happen is ICC needs such a ship. Kluth has one with the ult worker that has even torpedo's! ICC's S42A Supply ship is beyond weak because of all the nerfing that has been done to shields, as a result it has drastically weakened the supply ship as well. The model itself shows that it should have 3 repair drones or 2 with 2500. It could use an aux gen and a second layer of shields, its armaments are just fine as is. This would give it a little more survivability then the UGTO counterpart. After all ICC is supposed to have the best armor/shields in the game and in return have weak firepower. The firepower part is fine just need to work on the shield part.

UGTO supply ship is fine. I do miss the pulse beams, though.

i flowen a luth supply ship in to battle several times and lived to tell about it. its has 3 ecm which hide the ship when not near a planet or heavy eccm.
