Dear DarkSpace players,
For those who do not know about this, let me disclose a little history...
Paul 'R33' Gardner was a much beloved friend, fleet member, and DarkSpace player. He was a person who you enjoyed flying with and against. You could always talk to him, whether you were flying against, or beside him. He was always a laugh to have around, and would never disapoint. A true player.
Sadly and most unfortunately, Paul died in early 2003 of a brain haemorrhage. It hit many of us as a shock out of the blue, and needless to say, every member of DarkSpace who knew Paul (and a lot who didn't), felt a deep sorrow on that sombre day.
Paul was laid to rest on March 17th, 2003. In the years that have passed, we have always held a memorial for Paul in the system that was named after our dear friend. The system is home to tributes to a great man... The Gardner nebula, planet Skyline (his favourite car, of which his name comes from), and least shocking of all, the planet Paul. You may recognise this system as R33.
It's customary to stop all MV activity return the system R33 to GTN (UGTO) control whilst the memorial goes on, since Paul was a member of GTN. Although no-one forces the stopping of normal play, it's something everyone usually pulls together to do out of respect. However, since it's been troublesome in the past, I think we'll pass on returning all of R33 to GTN (UGTO) control this time.
Since Paul was laid to rest on the 17th or March, 2003 (a weekday), we shall hold the memorial on the closest Sunday to his passing, as is customary, which is this weekend (21st). I hope to get this underway by 11:00 GCQL time (4pm GMT).
Myself, Banshee, Drafell, Crash003, DarkSword, and Vipe raised a glass to our fallen friend at the DarkSpace UK meet many years ago, and I hope many of you will join me in saying a few words not just for Paul, but to other members of DarkSpace who have sadly come to pass.

I will have to rush it. The event is at 17:00 my time, and at work i got the last maintenance review on 16:30. Hope not a lot gets broken during maintenance tomorrow or i won't make it.

I never met the guy (joining date) but ive heard wonderfull storys bout him and im sure sad i dident meet him....... if the place is ugto wont the other factions get atked by planets and ai?

The date is this Sunday, 21st March, at 11:00 CST (4pm GMT).
It'll be based by the planet Fury, which is an inferno with no surrounding planets.
