i was playing usterday nd i though, boy going left andrigh sucks cause theres no action in it.what if you guys could allow the ship to fly in all directions up down vertical etc. it will put so much energy and exsitment in every confentation with an eneymy ship allow ing you to do sertain manuvers that can avoid projectiles missles, and the enemy would have to chase you through spins turns and all kind of manuvers
it will feel as if that person is really in space
what i think this cold be a complicated task to even tri but i know a desiner would sit and think a bout it i mean come it sound wecked awsome
like fliyind through space like a waitless freak haha
(siriusly think about it)

While being able to move your ship in all three axis (X,Y,Z) would be very interesting, it would be resource exhaustive.
There are alot of things more pressing that need to be taken care of before something of this magnitude could be implented. Even then if we wanted to do this it would have to be approved by our lead programmer.

The game is balanced around a single plane playing field. If we add a Z-axis into it, the game becomes much more difficult to balance and the majority of the games gameplay mechanics need to be re-engineered (for example, armour plating).
There is a Z-axis that exists in-game, but it's restricted to projectiles and such.
It's a nice thought, but DarkSpace is unique in the way it works, and I think the single plane playing field suits it. [ This Message was edited by: BackSlash on 2009-12-31 10:08 ]
