Is there any way to improve the 'kills' statistic to include PvP vs. AI kills, and the type?
So:
Kills 120
> Player
> Stations - 0
> Dreads - 2
> Cruisers - 12
> Destroyers - 31
> Other - 41
> AI
> Stations - 0
> Dreads - 0
> Cruisers - 3
etc. etc.
I'd sure like to be able to track PvP kills so that vets like me can be proud of our legitimate kills verses AI farming. We all kill AI during the game, but I'd like to see 'Kills' mean something again.
Might be nice to see the top 10 'killed by' names in your profile, too, along with your most recent 10 'kills'. [ This Message was edited by: Lunatiq on 2009-12-28 01:36 ]

That's a lot of extra DB tracking. Still, might be worth discussing or exploring.

Like the killboards in Eve. I like it. I think the only question is if that information is actually tracked or if it's a case of "Kill++" and then the information related to the kill is gone forever.

I would love to see a kill system like this! Stats are great but it would be even better to see the types and amounts of ships you've destroyed.

One problem: You can kill a ship that's been reduced to 1% hull by someone else, meaning they've done 99% damage but no kill. In fleet vs fleet battles it's nearly random who gets the kill, with everyone firing on everyone else.
What I'm saying is the kill stat would still be meaningless

Recording it isn't so much a problem as storing it is. The real question is what do you want us to do with the eleventy billion kills we haven't tracked?

I'd think just a basic "AI Kills" vs "Player Kills" stat would suffice, though breaking down the AI Kills a bit would expose the farmers a bit more...

You make a good point, but I still think it would be fun to see. It would create the (queue angels singing) "AHHHHHHHHHH" factor when looking at scoreboards. Seems like most MMORPGs give you stats down to the gnat's behind-level, and you get the credit for the final blow even if others participated.

or just don't count AI kills in the "kills" stat (and change it to "player kills")

Yeah, I proposed that a while ago - have a "Hunter" (or something) stat for monster and AI kills, to pull it out of ships damaged and kills so you can not only tweak the effect of AI kills on prestige but also track things more closely. I never pushed it and it never got anywhere.

If the fleet wars bracket gets going, something like this is what we are looking at doing. It would have stats on battles fought, lost, won, kills, deaths, and Im not sure what else. Of course that is going to be limited to the fleets duels, but it seems like a good testground. Maybe see how it goes, get feedback on what to add, look at what is feasible, and then translate it into the MV.
Personally, I think killvs ship type is a tad overboard. I dont really think its worth using the db space for tracking how many cruisers or scouts I have vaped.
I would love to see AI kills and stats seperated out. I think any ai pres should be bonus pres, and the ai kills should get their own stat line. That alone would help ease the egos of offended old timers.
I would also like to see ai caps seperated out. AI are far too easy to cap, and there is a massive amount of distortion in that one rank list. Also, it used to be that to cap an enemy player rewarded 2 pts per cap. Now I see that AI and players both give out 1 pt. Could we get the pts set to where you get 2 pts per player cap, and 1 pt per AI cap?
