Does the DS Editor still exist and is it availible to all players? i found the guids of how to use it and stuff in the FAQ and a big thing about it written by Taelron who knows when, but how it sais to open it doesnt work. seems like it should have came with DS when i installed it but ive searched through all the files multiple times and ive had no luck.

Am i missing something here? if its downloadable somewhere could someone give me a link or address?

thx-
space

Support of the editor was dropped and the map creating intigrated into the development package that is only avalable for developers.
The old Editor is no longer avalable and with the current update to DS 1.5 it no longer is able to function.

Its a sad loss. but untill there is actually a need for it again, it won't apear for public usage.

That guide was release January 10th, 2002

We discontinued the Map Editor in 2005 or 2006... Everything is now done in the resourcer, access to that is limited to a dev and server flag.

Because updating the faq and manual are tedious and slow tasks that nobody wants to do...

So basically: Become a Developer and then you get access to a Map editor.......

having public map making competitions was pretty awesome. itd be cool if we could get a weekly rotation of user-made maps for people to play in.

That reason alone is enough to do it.

We are told we can help volunteer. A great way that any ninny could do so is with the map editor. We used to have map contests. And I remember it was Lark who had an awesome little map as well. (I helped name some planets. Man that was a long time ago!)

Your reason has also been given in countless other posts over the last year, mine being one.

One response was : We dont want the server list filled with crappy maps.

Yeah. From a staff member.

So I wouldnt hold my breath.

It's just too logical of a thing to do for it to see reimplementation.

i have some nice maps laying somewhere in dust for many years ...

some of the mini MVs were quite popular at the time (yeah i was hosting 100+ player sessions

time fly so fast ...

but i agree simple way how try make own training scenarios would be nice ... then via competetion choose the best for game

What if the We got rid of one of the usless servers we have now, give us back the map editor, then they can use that extra server so we can "Request" the server for a certain map the "We" made for a certain event or time just play with. So we could all use the map editor and we wouldnt fill the server list with a bunch of usless crap.
