Variation on Cloak |

Thought I'd throw in an idea that came to me. It seems that the kluth don't have any kind of variation for the cloak. Yes, we can swap out AHR for chitinous armour, but other than that, there's not much choice. So, how about if we had some other types of cloak. i.e.
Displacer Cloak - Randomly places an image of your ship in the near vicinity. Hits against the displaced image will travel through and cause no damage
Mirror Cloak - Similar to the displacer cloak, this uses multiple images of your ship to confuse the enemy. Dreads and Stations only.

heres my idea of how to make k luth cloke more balenced: what if thare was like a spot light or like forward fireing beam with short range that will illuminate the cloked ship not decloke it just illuminate it (sorta like a spotlight in a dark room)

The topic says "Variation on cloak", not "ways to balance" or "Improve the cloak".
Try opening a new topic with your thoughts or im sure there is one that would fit your topic better.

Both of these would be nerfs to cloak. These aren't even cloak. these are decoys.

I disagree. In the hands of good players, these could be used cleverly to enhance the gameplay experience!

the only logical variations to cloak should be some ships (the lower classes) only having the OLD style cloak. This would help prevent tranny runs, would allow some possibility to supply while cloaked...like it USED to be. Give all combat ships the current type of cloak.
To me the only logical change, if any change is made.

Hey it isn't the worse idea i heard of K'Luth Cloak options yet.
Worst was still Cloak <> Interdictor.
Ideas are nice but like Frob explained these are decoys, not cloaking methods.
Just a example of what might be a other form of cloak could be something like a - "Controlled gravity well"
ship produces ~ -40 signature area wide.
You won't be visible unless enemy got close or your signature gets above 0.
The restriction is that you or allies get damage if you move above x speed (e.g. 1.0gu/s) something like that or not.
your idea that K'Luth get more options is nice but try to keep things balanced.
+ i don't think we want to add something like decoys.
The system is already enough sensitive to De-sync, even my just said idea will create another problem.

Phase Cloak makes ship invinsible against any attacks and planet collisions!
It should drain much energys for limiting operation time.

They probley shouldn't be called a cloak, but they all change light around. So, same basic ideal.
