okay well i have an idea well the darkspace page has been mostly the same sice 2003 nothing really has change but since Dark Space is free and everyone wants it to become an MMO Sci-Fi. I think its about time that the web site and the fourms go into an new phase have flash, update everything into a new type of style it will get more people interested of the game, show new Screenshot's make Videos. but i think everyone know what i mean by this hope.

The reason I've got for not having any updates is the website/forum are highly integrated with the game and it would take a major time investment to change them.

Yes thats really true but the web site and forums can be shut down the game still will work with out the wedsite/forum like shutting off a switch well kinda like that, the web site and fourms will be shut down for like a week they can use the Development log as a 2 website give players information whats going on and how long it will take.

Myself, Shigernafy, and Drafell (with help from Coeus back in the day) have gone over re-vamping the website several times.
The main issue we have is that it heavily relies upon PHPBB 1.4.2, but has been modified to such an extent that upgrading or revamping the entire website would be a monumental task.
Upgrading the forums alone would require us to rebuild practically half of PHPBB3 and the way it works just to get it to fit in with the current back-end.
So not much can be done in the way of upgrading the from that perspective.
A front-end re-design though is something I've been very much wanting for a long time, although that too requires quite a bit of work as it's not based on any modern CSS/Div format; and we have no professional artists on the dev team, so fancy pants art is another issue.
So, to reiterate: it's something we'd like to do, but just don't have the realistic time to do it. Also (and I think you'd be in agreement with me on this), any development time would be better spent on the game itself, rather than making the website look fancy.
Hope that helped.

well the time shouldnt be an issue i might know some people that are really good in fourms/websites making if you like i chould talk to some of them. so it wont wast ur time in development in the game.

I don't think that is usefull for re-making a website..
[/sarcasm]
I to have looked at the whole at the time Jack was trying to work with the phpbb problem. And darn there are a lot of problems/situations that would take a lot of time to update or re-write.
If the dev team where to focus on giving the website a update, we can expect we won't be seeing any update for a while. in addition that as said it will take time since we don't have any specialists in the house...
