Some of this may be wrong, this is my interpretation of the latest releases
if you see an error please correct me..
- Added new asteroid belts to Luyten, Ross 148 and Lumar
Watch out!! If you get caught in one of these fields hope you are in a ship smaller than a frigate, or you may collide with one of these roids causing your ship to go up in a huge explosion!
- Jump disruptor should be fixed now.
Hello Interdictor!! Watch your step, so to speak, the dicos are back and everyone is proud to use them now! The long hated device is getting love now as this fix rolls out and the deathtoll for ships has trippled!
- You can now unload unlimited numbers of infantry onto an enemy ship for capture.
PrIvAtEeRz Grab your transports, you can now send the whole army of infintry on your ship to an enemy ship!
- Structures gadget level is changed from 0 to 5. This should make planetary weapons more effective.
Planet defense is getting alot better, with the return of interdictors and the boosting of planets structures in the last version / defenses are getting even more power as their weapons are getting a huge boost of 5 levels...
- Reduced maximum range of supply drones from 250gu+(25gu*level) to 250gu+(5gu*level)
No more huge groups of stations sitting around dominating while they repair faster than getting damage! Stations now have to get alot closer to do this now, and with some of the other things done below stations are now much more vulnerable.
- Armor and shield HP regeneration rate is now fixed. Enhancements affecting those stats will therefore no longer increase HP regeneration.
There is no more regen rate boost for higher level armors/shields this means that the bigger ships now have the same regen rate as the smaller ships. Note: Regen rate is based on HP for example
if a scout has 100HP on one arc of armor/shields and a dread has 10,000HP on one arc of armor/shields, then both will regenerate their armor/shields at 10HP/s meaning the dread will take much longer to completely repair itself
The point of this update is to reduce the amount of larger ships and put more focus on cruisers
- Implemented heavy primary cannon variants.
This is great, you get the same damage in a smaller package, some ships may seem bare now but with these heavy cannons they pack a punch just as much! This will lower the projectile count, thus decreasing CPU usage, decreasing lag.
- Tweaked planetary defense bases
Planet defenses have gotten a boost! Some defense bases even have ground to space primary cannons!
- Added fighter variants for primary cannons.
New cannons have been created for fighters, now they don't use standard ship cannons, their damage has been altered to fire less projectiles with more power, decreasing the projectile count and reducing lag!
- Reduced general combat effectiveness of all stations
o/ StationSpace is coming to an end this is one of many steps in the process of making stations more vulnerable.
- Re-factored core weapons to be in line with updated primary weapon values:
* Ion Cannons now do DAMAGE_KINETIC as well as DAMAGE_ENERGY.
* Quantum Singularity Torpedo's now have much higher splash damage, but now only do DAMAGE_ENERGY.
* Stellar Incinerators have reduced splash damage, greatly reduced splash radius, but vastly improved impact damage. They now do DAMAGE_PSI as well as DAMAGE_ENERGY, in keeping with game lore.
This is one of the best updates, core weapons have been changed
Ion cannons can effect reflective and ablative armors somewhat evenly by doing DAMAGE_KINETIC as well as DAMAGE_ENERGY.
QSTs now have high splash damage, so self det them if you are about to have a near miss, they now only do DAMAGE_ENERGY meaning that MI (with their reflective armor) and ICC shields now have somewhat of a resistance to them.
SIs now pack a huge punch when they hit a target directly, they now do DAMAGE_PSI as well as DAMAGE_ENERGY (DAMAGE_ENERGY can be resisted with reflective armor or shields, I don't know what damage psi is :S)

I capped a piercer a few days ago in Rogen's Rift, but sadly I didn't get a cap point for it.
Still totally worth it, though.

unfortunately for you, bomber dread can still solo a planet, in MV AI will help interfere but unless theres other human players stopping you 1-2 ships for escort/resupply is plenty to take a planet. Without AI, dread can easily do it, though depending on how its done you may/may not be badly damaged/dead after bombing. But in either event, the infantry will all be dead and it would have been done with something much less than a fleet.
