In the picture above the large pretty shape (a cir-cle. We will work on our other shapes later) Is a dreadnaught. The small circle (Remember the shape circle from earlier in this post class?) is a cruiser. As you can see, the big circle has more room for weapons, reactors, defensive systems and engines. In terms more easily understood:
"Dreadnaught have more things for dead-making."
That is all.

Mostly for the same reasons that explain why a WWII-era battleship is bigger than a machine-gun-toting patrol boat, but is armed with 18-inch guns rather than hundreds of machineguns.

Yes, it's not the image that's wrong, it's the viewer's aspect ratio.
Or they're being viewed from an angle.
