So... People have been gossiping like mad what the event could be. Let's gossip altogether.
There've been various rumors:
1) K'Luth will be removed as a playable faction under the guise of eradication by Scientia's research.
2) Beacons will have changed functionality as a beta test.
3) A new weapon will be introduced: Bio Cannon.
4) A new weapon will be introduced: Cheese Wedge Cannon.
5) A new planetary defense will be introduced: Defensive Platforms, which operate as a sort of Station and fire at anything in range. (barring allied ships)
Personally I will LOL whichever it is, although I think 2) is the most likely. >:
( But 1) will make me most happy. <3 Freaking cloakers. )

Just by the way, for all those who are completely flummoxed by time zones and don't know the conventions:
The event starts at 2. That's in Palestar time, which is Central US, -5 GMT.
Its currently Summer Time, so the UK is +1 GMT at the moment; GMT doesn't have daylight savings time. So..
Noon on the West Coast
1pm in the Mountains
2pm in Central time zone
3pm on the East Coast
8pm in the UK
9pm on the continent
I don't know where else we have players, but you should be able to figure it out from those numbers, hopefully.
Hopefully that helps clear things up a bit.

Just for further clarification, the event is entirely within the release side of DarkSpace. There is nothing in beta, no requirement for beta, no involvement whatsoever.
Also, there's no particular need for a subscription. You're of course free to purchase one, but aside from avoiding the predations of any nearby enemy faction members, you won't be required to blow anything up. So if you're unsubbed, feel free to come in a scout or frigate.

Also, 484 is not going to be released.
This is just a random event. It truly has absolutely nothing to do with beta.

Well now, this makes me think of "Gunfight at the OK Corral" which took place at high noon. For those of us that live on the west coast, this event will be at High Noon.
