Hello all
I am a new player and I have a few questions:

1.Is this game persistent or rounds based?
2.How does it compare to eve online
3.what are the specs

Thanks

1. Presitant
2. Can't compare it to EVE to very different games. Only thing in common is they are both set in space.
3. Not sure but I am sure someone else will be able to help you.

the MetaVerse server (the most used one) is persistant, the other servers are scenario servers and they rotate scenario's (non-persistant)

Hi, welcome to DarkSpace.

1) It depends. Scenario servers (Newbie and Admiral) are both rounds based, and will change the map every two hours depending on who wins. These are mainly aimed at newer players trying to learn.

The Metaverse is the main focus of the game - it's 100% persistant, and is where all the action happens. You will also keep any ships you modify in the MV.

2) I've played EVE, and whilst it's a good game, and has a lot of immersive stuff - it's combat is nothing on DarkSpace's. The style is a lot more arcade-like, if you will. You control your ship, your weapons, everything you see - you can control. You can even blow up your own weapons near enemy targets if they miss to cause slight splash damage. They're two VERY different games.

3) You can run this on a Pentium 2, with a 32MB graphics card, and 512MB of ram. It won't look pretty - but you can. If you've got a standard 2.5 - 3.2Ghz processor, and a meaty graphics card, you'll do just fine.

Daily reboot takes all but two minutes, but appart from that it's never reset unless a serious error requires us to.

and may i add if and when the server is reset you will not loose any of your ships or your account data.

also on another note if you do play the game dont just play on one faction try them all each one has its pros and cons.

I just read the whole story. I assume the story listed is up to this point.
I like it. It makes me want to play.
Is there good guys, bad guys, neutrals?

3 Factions, ICC, UGTO and Kluth, History tells us UGTO were the first, ICC were Pirates as it were who fractured from UGTO and I think K'luth are refugee's from Mir? And a small Mir remnant came with kluth, And Pirates are now buzzing around.

There are no Good or Bad Teams Really.

Just play on each faction and get a feel for it.

Nothing quite so black & white, just grey. Lots of shades of grey. Like porridge.

The guys in charge of the DS "history" are good at what they do. If you feel inspired to write anything, there's a fan fiction forum for you post your stuff.

How much hard drive space do I need for the game?
Also, is there somewhere an explanation of what each faction stands for?

Around 100 MB

United Galactics Trade Organization (UGTO)

Interstellar Cultural Confederation (ICC)

K'luth are K'luth (In Human...tongue. I surmise).

UGTO are "good" (much like the United Nations we have now), ICC are the rebels who do not want to conform to the UGTO ways. K'luth are the true baddies in a sense, but they've been mislabed in a way - as the Mir (NPC race), ran them out of their home.

So, from good to bad...

UGTO
ICC
Pirates
K'luth
Mir
