I've just came back after about a year away and now see why there are so few new players. Since engies are off-limits to newbs there is no building of ports to sell resources to in newbie server no one is ever in admiral server. Which leaves the only option of MINING in META where res are near worthless not to mention the fact that you have to do it in an un-upgrade extrator. Yes, I know one one can simply ask for credits but how do you expect to attract new players when the first thing they are required to do is beg?

The developers do infact work there buts off working on the new patch... I cant tell you why there is no deadline but it is for a good reason. Before you go attacking them by saying it is unfair think about what you are saying.

Actually, he's kind of got a point that I agree with. As far as I know, the only reason engies were taken off of midshipmen was to eliminate people abusing things by making a middy account to build poor planets to bomb easily. I'm probably missing 90% of the real reason, though.

Yeah, because its horrible that we help people and give them free stuff.
We should be ashamed.

You dont really have to beg for credits, just say hey im new, and want to learn the game, can someone teach me to upgrade? and probably somebody will give you credits so you CAN upgrade.

New players used to accidently ruin planets in the MV, and since shipyards are very important, as is keeping tech level, etc, etc - accidently scrapping something isn't such a good idea.
New players can easily rank up with their coupon, or if they pay. 80 prestige isn't a lot to get you know, takes all of 20 minutes of play.
DarkSpace isn't a free to run - so, we need incentives for people to subscribe - here is one of them.
Allowing unsubscribed people to constantly build, which is quite prestigious this version, is a bad idea, and I'm glad it was removed.

same swapping engies for supplies seems like a good idea, that way a new player would be some use and if they decide to subscribe they can get a decent amount of prestige.
Take it from me being unsubbed is incrediably limited.

If you need credits all you had to do was ask... heh
I gave $5,000,000 to some new guy was flying around desperately trying to sup ICC dreads who kept gettin' knocked up just because of the effort he showed.
Post on the beta site when beta is back in live testing again about having light suppies switched to middie level. Maybe a badge requirement like bronze nav or something.

I wasn't attacking the Dev and i do appreciate the work they have done on this game after all I am returning to it. I was merely pointing out that the credit system really is broken and could use some work. I mean at the start of the game creds are incredible difficult to obtain so difficult in fact that you have to ask some one to give you the credits. Then after you gotten some credits from a helpful person they immediatly become almost useless.
