when (and if) i subscribe(my trial has ended) will all my prestiege reset and will i have to start over again?

when your subscribtion ends and you connect to a server your rank wil drop to midshipman.
your stats wil remain.
when you resubscribe your rank wil be rebuild using your stats.
so to answer your question : "NO"
its even so far that if you gain stats the wil reflect your rank when you resub.
so is is even posable to Gain rank or lose one while being unsubbed.
p.s. as a side note for people unsubbed.
a prestige calculator like this one build by BackSlash *Jack* can be used to calculate your prestige for you when your unsubbed.

Correct.
Prestige is calculated from your stats. When you un-sub, your prestige is forced to 0, but your stats remain, and they even build whilst you're un-sub'ed, so when you re-sub, you rank will be re-calculated, and any stats you gained whilst un-sub'ed, will be added on as well.

Pretty much just summarizing here.
Your stats make up your prestige.
Anything you gain - or lose - is recorded as stats but only calculated into prestige once you subscribe. This is why its possible to unsub and still gain (and lose) prestige. You even keep your rank if you subscribe, but unsubscribe.
Prestige is only calculated and re-calculated when you enter a server, any server.
