years have gone by since DS was released. It is basically the same.
The same is not neccessarily bad. But the same is repetetive, what is different for a returning player of years ago?
A few gameplay mechanics and rules.
DS needs to evolve. It can still be DS, but like DS on steroids for lack of a better example.
Maybe F doesn't want to, doesn't have neccessary funding, but DS needs additional stuff...
it is basically just combat oriented, and while that is not bad, it isn't the be all end all when the only objective is take over a couple systems.
Its the reason DS player base has remained the same. DS has had enough word of mouth on the net to have become popular, heck there used to be 70 000 registered players, and probably over 200,000 who have registered at some time or another, and actually played the game.
Im only saying this because I like the game and wish it would take its right ful place among the more played online games out there.
You might say, oh well I am not contributing, I am not subbed.
But I say to you I don't want to SUB because I don't want to play DS as it is, just a combat game.
It has such great potential.

lilfrigate my dear lad, DS is not the same as it once was, since the release of 483 this is what happened, 2 weeks and some odd days after it was released the mirv bug was discovered, after it was discovered i noticed something was off, n00bs were gaining rank faster than vets who had Vice Admiral and FA, Planets were being flattened left and right, Escort Destroyers that were once 1 hit kills never died but instead killed bigger ships, Pickets too, Lag has gotten worse, Scouts are now Station Killers, and kluth are beacon bait.
What has changed since 482? Flux, thats it just flux, the same is there Solo bombing n00bs, barely any tactical advantage in this game at all.
I remember you little frigate i was once in your fleet and as one vet to the next come back in 484 as Bombing wont be as bad as it is this patch
Mirv bombs Wipe out all structures on all planets this patch, and in 480 it didnt do that, Neutron bombs are the kluths form of bio bombs except you get 15 instead of 5 lol. you should see the new kluth ships and human ships its awesome dude, thats my major like about the game is the new ships. They Beefed up the siphon, Mandi and Ganglia anyways enough about this, just come back lilfrigate i miss you

The MIRV thing isn't really a bug, per se.
Picket and Escort Dessies didn't exist before 1.483, I think, so therefore, they never could have been one hit kills...
And scouts as station killers? Now that's a tad overexaggerated...

Actually, DS has integrated a new upgrading system, new ships, a new MV map, new weapons, and has reintroduced AIs, though the times when they interfere are relatively few compared to way back when.
And from what you said, you infer that there have always been 'solo bombing n00bs.' Well, before 1.483, there were a few solo bombers, but I can definitely say they were not 'n00bs'....
Don't get such a bad impression, frigate. It isn't all bad like GT says it is.

I would say the worse thing that happened was that ship requirements have increased. So demo accounts could not really play anything worth playing. At least they could use build ships back then, This has cuased a change reaction causeing very few players playing. I understand why they did it to force people into paying but instead drove people away. Sure there was alot of freeloaders just playing for free but they where players. The more players that played the more exciteing the game was and showed people what the game was really like so they would subscribe. Now they demo a empty game with no one in it and playing metaverse in demo mode well lol need i say more. The only game that people are in is the metaverse and no demo (New players) will ever like that untill after knowing how to play and how will they ever know how to play if they join a empty game or how will they ever enjoy or justify paying for this game.
You have to have challenges to overcome to make anything exciting or worth your time. Empty space floating around with no one in it is not gonna excite anyone.
So in short makeing the game different is not the answer makeing it so more people play, free or subscribed is.

Mirv's aren't bugged, it's that the damage isn't clamped low enough.

Yeah, but that was always possbile. I think Goth was referring more to the scout's armor and weapons.
