I have an idea that will help the new people in DarkSpace.
Instead of starting them off with 0 credits so when they start they can't mod or upgrade or stand a fighting chance, how about we start them off with a few credits. i was thinking about maybe 50,000 credits doing the trick.
Letting the newbies have a few bucks would, i think, help them get a start in the game against the older player who they would fight. I find it irretating that the noobs are always complaining that they can't mod becuase they have no money and that the're cannon fodder with little armor. It certainly would make Noob Hunting Season more challenging and fun for people like me.
I'll let you guys discuss it for awhile.
/me dons his Anti-Jack charms...

Yeah, but Jack reads every little line of forum space... One can only imagine how hard he works to get into locked archives.

Except ya know, not everyone can always shove every newb a couple million aye? 50k-100k sounds reasonable to me, and theres really nothing BAD that can come of that, right?
In other words, you guaranteed Jack coming here..reading..posting NO.'

Players get 50k when they sign up.
It's just the automatic insurance that sets them into the negatives. Once they do anything, they'll gain enough to start modding their ship. It only takes five seconds to explain this to someone new.
The negative credits problem will probably be fixed in 1.484 anyway.

"Don't look behind you."
"Don't push that button."
"Don't try to annoy that venomous snake."
Doesn't work, see?
In any case, was that 5 mil coupon a one-off?

yes it was

Player Name,
A new change has been made to make accumulation of credits
in-game easier on everyone, including admins who keep having to
compensate players. When you spawn a ship (new or docked), the
value of the ship, including the costs of any upgrades, are
deducted from the players credits. This may result in a NEGATIVE
credit balance in-game after your spawn.
If the ship is destroyed or docked, the FULL value of the ship,
including the costs of upgrades are returned back to the players
credit balance.
The end result of this change is that losing a ship will only
result in resources lost increase. Your credits you've invested
into your ship are returned to your account in full.
You can only reduce your credits in the following 3 ways:
1. Transfer credits to another player in-game.
2. Buy resources from a port (i.e. Heavy Metals).
3. Remove a ship from dock.
In order to get everyone started out on the right foot, below is
a coupon worth 5,000,000 credits:
[coupon code]
NOTE: This coupon can only be redeemed by this account (@UserID),
you cannot use it for any other account. |
