Many of R33's friends will undoubtly know that in a month and a half it will be time for the DS R33 memorial for 2006.
For those of you who didn't know R33, he was a fine pilot, great enemy, and an even better friend. He was one of those players who, although you where fighting against him, you'd still be able to talk to him like he was on your side. He'd always be up for having a laugh, and he'd never disapoint. A true player.
Unfortunatly, R33 died early in 2003 from a brain hemorage. The news hit everyone from out of no where, no one knew what to say. Tons of players added [R33] to the end of their name to show sorrow for losing such a great person and player, whilst some left words in the thread that was created.
I still remember when me, Banshee, Drafell, Crash003, DarkSword, and Vipe got together at the DS UK meet, and raised our glasses to Paul. I know Banshee has been to Paul's grave on every anniversairy, and others have paid there respects in other ways.
R33 was laid to rest on March the 17th. Last year, and the years before, we have always held a memorial in R33 to acknowledge the passing of a great man. Since last year many people missed the memorial due to missing the thread that was put up days before, I decided to put this thread up a month in advance, so that everyone can get a chance to come and pay respect to Paul.
If any of you are wondering if the system R33 has anything to do with Paul, then you are indeed correct. R33 was such a friendly person, and great player, that everyone wanted to leave something in DarkSpace so that he wouldn't just fade away, and the admins decided putting a star in the MV named "R33" would be fitting. Many of the planets in that system are in reference to him. "Paul" is his name. "Skyline" was his favourite car. "Tattoo" ... Well, if you knew Paul, you'd understand his love for the things.
It's customairy to stop all MV activity whilst the memorial goes on (although no one forces this, it's just something that everyone pulls together to do, to pay respect), and it's also customairy to return the system (R33), to -GTN-, UGTO whilst the memorial goes on, since R33 was -GTN-.
I'll post some pictures below from the last memorial, so that you can see what it was like.
Since he was laid to rest on the 17th or March, 2003, and the nearest weekend is the 18th through to the 19th, perhaps it would be best for everyone to decided when the memorial should be.

Whatever day is decided, I'll be there. I have not missed a memorial for R33. Those are the best times I have in DS when everyone comes together to remember a fellow player.

I shall always participate in a memorial for a fallen player, even if it was before my time in DS....It is my hope that all of VCA comes to it as well...an entire fleet of people who didnt know him, all there at his memorial....

If we can decide a firm date then we will add it to the Events so that everyone wil lbe aware. I don't plan on missing it either. It's a rare thing for a gaming community to come together in this way.

I'm at work 11-5 GMT (am - pm that is), most guys here are american/canadian/not far off GMT time, so perhaps we could make it 6-7 pm GMT? If more people can come to the memorial when I'm in work, then I guess it's tough luck for me. It's all for Paul anyway.
