hey guys I am looking to rejoin, but I'd like to have some incentive before I do.
I read last time I was here about a new race the Mir or something being introduced to the M.V I think it was going to be AI controlled, is this still happening or going to happen?
further, what are plans for the new updates coming to DS, in terms of expanding gameplay.

Eh, game is very different. Shiplayouts are completly changed along with weapon archs. Don't get too discouraged, takes about a week to get used to, at least it did for me. Tehres more, but I'll let you figure that out yourself.
Welcome Back.

What's new? Well;
-DS has been ported to GNU and is now running on a multi-zeon server, which only needs rebooting once a month.
-Following from that, DS is now available to buy on Xbox360 and soon PS3. Each platform shares the same MV.
-'Medusa' has been released in limited open-source format. Amateur developers are flocking to the engine; plans for DS:Assualt and DS:Ground Force are well under way. Both teams hope to link the games into the current MV in some way.
-All the bugs in the current version have been fixed.
-Network code has been updated and super-streamlined, Lag is but a distant memory now.
-Bombing has been returned to 1.480 style, Faustus worked round the clock to make the code so efficient that is creates hardly any server strain.
-DS now has a fully functional economy, with a marketplace where players can buy and sell anything from components to fully built ships. Companies that specialize in building ships make a tidy profit from those that use them to complete a host of missions, included a player run bounty system. EVEs' economy looks truely primative by comparison.
-DS is now finely balanced. AI's were created to battletest and evaluate designs over 100's of randomised simulated battles. Winning a fight is truely down to player skill now.
-Jumpgates, wormholes and shipyards work so well, that nobody can remembers how they managed to play the game without them.
-The forums are so well moderated now, that talk of politics and religion, for that matter any 'decent' subject, is allowed again. Posts are carefully edited to avoid any flame war, posting rules are stuck to the top of each forum, players can take their problems to a private forum where only moderaters and admins can reply, feedback on forum policy is welcomed and acted upon, the names of banned users are displayed in a list, and the reasons for their ban displayed. The admins and mods are now truely unbiased and fair and everything they do is transparent for all to see.
-Faustus has drawn up a complete design document for DS2 and taken it to venture capitalists all over America. He was very succesful and has got enough funding to quit his day job, hire some help and even rent offices for Palestar. Work on bringing Medusa up to bleeding edge is continuing at rapid pace, helped along by the many amateur devs working with the engine to make their own games.
In other news;
-Lasting World Peace was declared at the UN headquarters in NY today, GW bush is quoted as saying "I never imaginated it would happen in my lifetime" (roughly 40 years for his species)
-Scientists, keen to build upon the work done genetically engineering human ears onto mice, have said that; soon pigs will fly.
