Since players are editing out their posts or simply do not know how to delete them, how about sticking a tiny "delete" button by the side of your posts only. It would be a lot clearer than the current tick box and submit button which is slightly confusing anyway (why submit something you want to delete?).
Just an idea, most new PHPBB boards use it.
