Agreed.

MV suffers from being a persistant environment, running a game designed for a transitory environment. This creates many bad things, which lead to it being fairly dull many times.

If you we're to repeat that as many times as you had listed... you would have played for 36 hours. Just one instance of it, 3 hours; spent in the MV could be done bomb cap bomb cap bomb cap, fight bomb fight cap bomb.....for 3 hours

That said, I see your point. Both can be boring.... (all games can i guess) and i guess i'm Biased becuase i like building, so the repetition (which would take 6 hours to happen mind you) isn't really repetition for me, because most of the time i build. Then if needed i can jump in a combat ship of even a bomber or sup (all of which are more fun in scenario IMO)

So i guess if you don't like building; scenario can be even more boring while not necessarally becoming more repetative. It's just i don't seem to have any fun in MV... it's all so serious. You HAVE to keep systems and you HAVE to get your team together in order to keep those systems, becuase numbers are so important to MV play. Scenario is less of a headache.

not true, because if the ICC know what they are doing, they have shields, nobody else does. It's cap build bomb win, next scenario.

That said one of the things I like about MV is the fact that you build it and it stays unless scrapped or bombed. Well, or roided. The perpetuity is what makes it interesting. You can pop in at anytime, mod, and be in combat, or bomb, or trade for easy credits. There's any number of reasons that MV is more beneficial to your profile, and ultimately more fun.

If you like scouts and frig battles tho, heh heh, MV ain't for you probably. I suspect that is more about newbie farming then anything else tho, but just a hunch.

Back in 1480 scenario was a heck of a lot of fun. It was great. You didn't have to play obsessively for 6 hours at a time to get something done, you could log in, play for 15-20 minutes, shoot stuff and generally have fun.

Metaverse was more fun back then too, in my opinion. People generally went in the MV as groups and coordinated teams, and battles were smaller and much more tactical.

AND 1480 HAD GREEN TEXT!

The chat color is still about 1/3rd of the reason I don't play... the old way was a heck of a lot better, and easier on the eyes. Plus, the default green text allowed for the /team command, which showed up in yellow, so a fleet leader giving orders could easily be heard.

Groan... where has my DarkSpace gone?

I liked the old scenario servers where there were up to 90 people playing at a time sometimes. It was a lot faster paced. The Metaverse is a great concept if there was hundreds of people playing all the time. Currently I think the player base is more suited for scenario type play.

That always was fun. Flew in with maybe a squad of 5 ships. 2 Dreads, a Cruiser, a Supply, and something else depending on the situation. And rather than instantly Shipyarding to a location at the first sign of trouble, half the system could be captured before people realized anything was happening. And then the engagement slowly escalated as the small squads became inadequate to continue the fight.

yeah, capping was fun, because you had to like rush to cap as much as possible before reactinary forces came into the system

THese days however, the usually know BEFORE you even decide to cap.

yeah, its hard to do a sneak attack when the enemy is told where you are all the time. perhaps something for faustus to look into, but not right now.

personally i think MV is better. no 2 hours of building up infastructure, lots of tactics and strategy and thinking, plans actually have value, and the large-scale battles r fun. with the newbies flying frigates between the dreads and cruisers its even better. theres nothing quite as satisfying as being part of a major fleet and overwhelming your enemy through smart movement
