Well.. First off i'm going to give praise for all the hardwork and effort put into the new version by the dev's.. the patience demonstrated by the staff for those of us who cried and cried and cried as to when the new release would be out.
But, i wanted to get everyones opinion on this.
Does this version seem more based on money then anything else? I mean i've seen some people with rediculous amounts of cash and this is a good way to drain em out a bit. But i admit that one of the aspects of DS that lured me so much was the fact that it wasnt so money orientated.
Now, i apologize greatly for sounding ungreatful.. but this is seeming to turn down more of the EVE path.. the rich fly in their superships while those of us who scrape by will be in extractors for a bit.. thankfully mining is rewarding..
Anyway, let me know if i've missed anything; which i probably have. But please, keep the flaming on a down low.

OK, back in the day, people used to fight with stock ships. It may be time to do that again. Either that or have a highly specialized ship in one area.
To fully mod a fleet admiral-class dreadnought costs so much money, only the top 20 or so players (in terms of credits) are able to do so.
This patch is unlike any other. It is a full rebalance and reorientation of the game. It's going to require a large paradigm shift to get used to.
All ships are retooled and rebalanced, fighters and frigates are actually useful against large ships. People can now afford to fly stations, since they are the lumbering behemoths they are intended to be.
People must realize that the upgrade system is a secondary characteristic to wholly new gameplay. If you have the credits to mod one or two devices then so be it, but it's virtually impossible to modify a dread to the point that people are now worried about.
I was seriously down 50,000,000 credits after 2 ships were modified, not even fully.
This patch is not about money, it is about gameplay.

We need a big handout. Maybe a coupon for 10million credits so those who are rich can afford a lil more and those who are poor (like me, 1.4m creds wont get me squat) will actually be able to get somewhere.
Any idea (if known) on methods of gaining credits? Just using an extractor doesnt do much good, to sell you haul if you have to go to a planet that already has a massive reserve of the materials you mined. The starport would only give you a measely profit.

Just wait a couple weeks till the "rich" have lost their super-ships, and fly in in a mini-super ship ...as for the stock ship thing even the modded ships of the last patch are stock in comparison to a fully upgraded ship in this patch

what ramius said
on the other hand it makes a modded ship more valuable so ppl will be more carefull with them and we can hope that the gameplay will benefit from it.

im thinking fleet taxation of planets they own would be a good idea, if it isnt already implemented. itd make fleets an actualy important feature, as opposed to a lose form of communication

You know... this is something I've been saying for years... planets DO turn a profit... as they are now. And that cash goes to purchasing ships for the faction...
It would actually be a reason to build planets that aren't just heavily defended pains in the rear, and cause some variety... You might have an industrial world... or a residential world... or a garrison....

lol i just saw a comparison someone made with this to eve(ew)... ppl digging and chatting, possibly mining all night for cash T_T
we cant let that happen, we wont let that happen, and we cant let that happen!!
btw.. someone said something about flying stock ships? a mandy and 2 scarabs went up against an icc ad.. unloaded everything on him (he was modded at lvl 10 armor/shielding it seems) and when it was over, not even a dent..
