Okay..ive been watching navy movies and such...and ive been thinking.

In the navy, they can use ships to fire longrange cannons, but not missles.
So, my Idea...Maybe a Dread with a new type of cannon, witch fires a single shot every 5-9 seconds at a range of 600-1000gu? It can have some what bulked armor. Lay out Idea(s)

UGTO-
Full- One Long Range Cannon,One Standard Armor
Front-Two Long Range Cannons, One/(Two) Standard Armor
Side, left- Two Long Range Cannons,One/(Two) Standard Armor
Side,right-Two Long Range Cannons, One/(Two) Standard Armor
Back- Two Long Range Cannons,One/(Two) Standard Armor
Drives- 2-3 PFE drives, or standard IE, maybe a new design.
JumpDrive- Standard, maybe short range WH device.
Extra- Two Generators, ECCM/ECM slot, and scanner
Fighter Bays- Three Fighters

ICC-
Full- Extended Range Cannon, Standard Armor, Re-Active Shield
Front- Two Extended Range Cannons, Re-Active Shield(s)
Side,left- Two Extended Range Cannons,Re-Active Shield(s)
Side,right- Two Extended Range Cannons,Re-Active Shield(s)
Back-Two Extended Range Cannons,Re-Active Shield(s)
Drives- 2-3 PFE Drives,or Standard IE, maybe new design.
JumpDrives- Standard IE, maybe short range WH device.
Extra- Two Generators, ECCM/ECM slot, Two Shield Generators
Fighter Bays- Three Fighters

K'luth-
Full- Hyper Accelerated Cannon, Three-Four Organic Armor
Front- Two Hyper Accelerated Cannons
Side,left- Two Hpler Accelerated Cannons
Side,right- Two Hyper Accelerated Cannons
Back- Two Hyper Accelerated Cannons
Drives- 2-3 PFE Drives, or Standard IE, maybe new design
Jump Drive- Standard IE, maybe short range WH device.
Extra- Two Generators, ECCM/ECM slot, Scanner
Fighter Bay- Three Fighters

Long Range Cannon-
Range- 100-1200gu ( Most Accurate of the three designs..Accurate the farther the distance, but more power close range)
Damage- 4-9 armor damage, 6-11 shield damage, 3-6 hull damage
Ammunition- 45-60 shots
Energy- .2-.8 Energy Drain
Added on Signature- 1-3 Sig

Extended Range Cannon-
Range- 50-950gu (Shortest range of the three designs. Accurate long range, MUCH more powerfull than the UGTO or K'luth up close)
Damage- 5-10 armor damage, 7-11 shield damage, 4-7 hull damage.
Ammunition- 30-45 Shots
Energy- .3-.9 Energy Drain
Added Signature- 1-3 Sig

Hyper Accelerated Cannon-
Range- 75-1000gu (Best all around cannon of the three designs. Medium range, Accurate at any range, decent power at all ranges.)
Damage- 4-8 armor damage, 6-9 shield damage, 3-6 hull damage
Ammunition- 50-65 shots
Energy- .1-.3 Energy Drain
Added Signature- .5-2 Sig

-=Short Range WH Device=-
Distance- 1k-10k gu
Energy drain- 20-30 energy to be used.
Added Signature- 2-4 Sig
Recharge time- 4-8 minutes

Okay, that should cover it..heheh..Nice long post I geuss, but hey..I figure I had a good Idea...Yes, I know long range was the purpose of the missle dread/cruisers, but this could possibly see more action than those ships, and be a valuable ship in each faction.

i like it. ive always thought that we need something to not only pump up the "support" role. (to not have everyone instantly grab the EAD's, AD's, and siphons)

methinks with ships like this, 'newbies' or vets alike would have to mount sensor scouts, go out there and beacon some enemy dreads. i mean, nothin funner than a "who can nail that siphon in the ass!" or whatever.


however the downside to these ships. make then suseptable to fighters.

i mean this would be too uber if they could rock any ship from long range, but they need a weakness (aside form the assault dread close jumping them.)

anyways, good thinkin

yeah or.... we keep the L4+ cannons as they are now, thats 4 shots, over 2kgu (l8's up past 3) with the better rate of fire...

how about the speed of the shot? i mean a particle cannon shot can be evaded at close range, so 600-1000gu's....would have to be a homing shot(oh, missiles) to come even close

would work if it would have a big blast radius (i'm thinking it would be like today's artillery?) , but then friendly ships could not be close either

My basic Idea for this tael, is for 1st RA and up to be able to access this ship, not to have to work their way up for damned super weapons

I was Thinking You Can Add A Weapon Kinda like a machine gun kinda thing how it shoots so u hold down the number to fire it and shoot at rapid fire, it wouldnt do much damage with 1 shot but with rapid fire it could be effective ??

maybe they should be shot through the f2 screen like a red target circle and then like 10-14 shots are fired in rapid succsesion and would have a nice splash damage and would have a reload time of 30 sec
or something like that
