why ane they gone... we all had them for a bit... seemed the right thing to do given that we all use the ICC build to put up a shield... no shield = nuked...
just messing around in the beta... trying out the fighter bombers... against a planet with one shield things went well... one wave (8 fighter bombers) takes the planet shields down about 5% (more than that but the shielding recharges, so works out to about 5% per wave)...
2 shields puts it out of reach for one person as shields recharge faster than you can damage them...
no shields... now that is the problem... 8x5 fighter bombers later and the planet has nothing left on it... no pop... no buildings... nothing... (it took 3 waves to render it harmless)... it is not like i picked a weak target... the planet was well built... but by my self i crushed it because it had no shield
sure this is great if you play ICC... no shield for everyone elce is a wet dream for ICC... just jump in nuke sy's, take system...
yes we do that now... 2 bombers (nukes) and 1 supply will crush any planet in 1 pass but that takes 3 ships... i did the same thing and it took 1 ship...
the fighter bombers are just fine (i'd say they are a bit weak but useful), the problem is no shield = dead planet
